Sources for kit annoucements?
Posted by David Maddog on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 4:39 PM

Does anyone know where I can find some good sources of new kit announcements of armor? I've been given the privilege in a forum I belong to to keep them updated with product announcements for the coming months and just wondered if anyone knew some good places I can find these.  Thanks

For pure armour, PMMS is probably the best source. Though there have been a few issues of late. He has been away for a couple of months.

There are other sites that give details on other kits as well as armour. Cybermodeller is a good one.

And these are some others that i know of.

Theres also hobby Link. But it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Hope these help.

Perth is probably best, but there are companies he won't deal with.  Armorama is pretty good at filling in those holes.

www.armorama.com is the link that Buff is referring to. You might also look to www.missing-lynx.com as well.

I would think that if you are doing this for another online forum, it's members would already be internet savvy enough to know of the sites that were recommended. Although they would be great places to start, you might want to contact some model distributors or manufacturers directly so that you too could get an early notice of new arrivals.

Some companies in the past are not open to criticism about their products which by the way is helpful to us modellers so I guess that is the reason why Terry opted not the feature their models to avoid any problems.

I know of only one company he had an issue with, maybe there were more i didn't notice. But as far as i know he only stopped doing kit reviews for that company, not new kit news. And he did a review of one of the companys kits, so it seems he has dropped the embargo.

New kits announcement is one thing, new kits availability is another and it's more important to me because I can order right away. As far as I've seen, hobby sites in Hong Kong have new Chinese made kits available faster than the rest. Visit hobbyeasy.com and luckymodel.com and you'll see new kits available. I just got my GMC Bofors 40mm Gun (Hobby Boss's) a few days ago. But for Eastern European made kits, visit hobbyterra.com, now they have T-90  (Zvezda's) and many other new kits available already.
