Well finally got some more done so and update is at hand...

First though

dzhou, I was aware of the turret rotation problem, missed the lack of clear periscopes so thanks for the heads up there.

tigerman, yes its a beast in size. I have questioned my sanity more than once on this.

Ok update.

Last pic I posted showed cross supports added, well these had to be removed. Why? Well I mentioned all the ejector pin marks on this thing, the hull is rife with them so I was going to fill with mr. sirfacer 500 and clean up the extra bits with my dremel and a grinder or sander  head for it. Problem! Got the sink marks filled no problems but couldnt get the dremel in close enough due to the hull walls. So I carefully ran a little glue along the edge of the supports and the came back out easily enough. Purchased a sanding mouse (like a sanding block but shaped like an iron and great for tight corners), breezed through the sink hold clean-up, reinstalled the supports and got some side detailing. Pics follow

Removed supports, filled and sanded hull

Side walls and supports (re)installed.

With a 1/35 Panther hull for size comparison

Wow, that thing is huge. I'd love to put my tiny H-39 up to it. Lol

I have this kit also. It's basically the old Trumpeter's 1/16 scale Separate King Tiger Henschel and Porche kits combined together without the clear parts and metal barrel. It's not gonna get build. Too big and too much time for me right now.

One thing you have to watch out for. Despite Trump's "Two years of exhaustive reasearch", there is one major error. The shell barracks/holders that permiates the lower hull (Forgot part number and well, the kit is up on our walk in closet, and I mean WAAAYYY up there along with the instruction booklet...I'm not gonna temp fate by trying to get it down). if assembled according to the instruction booklet, will stick out too long into the turret space, causing turret not to spin. Of course, if you are gonna cement the turret in place, that shant be a problem, but most wont since if you wanna show the extensive detaililng that populate the turret, you need to constantly remove and insert the turret. There is a aftermarket correction set (along with machine gun ammo pouches and periscopes. Not adding any clear periscope is a major MAJOR minus in the kit!) if that is your thing. Or you can go and then the outter and inner edges of the brackets/holders in order to clear out the necessary spaces. Just watch this when you get to that stage!

On the Bench: Man, Choices, Choices...Where to start. But trying to close up shop on the Trumpeter F4F-3 (Early) Wildcat. On the Stash: Trumpeter's TBM-3 Avenger, Revell's C-17, Trumpeter's 1/32 Typhoon, Trumpeter's SBD-3 Dauntless, and waiting for my BR-86 to arrive In the "Spare Parts" Heap: Dragon's 1/32 P-51D Mustang Early Version (Worst kit I ever saw. Wasted $35 bucks! Ohh Well)!!!

Greg, the interior is much more extensive than the 1/35 Academy Tiger I interior kits (given the scale difference not hard). There is plenty of room to add more, which again given the scale is much easier than the smaller 1/35 kits.

As for desk size I was actually contemplating building this on my old workbench which came out at about 2 1/2' across. Think I may of gone nutz LOL. Part of the point behind the move was more space for everyone (so more bench space for me Devil).

HOLY CRAP, I really gotta have one now. I see hull cross bracing is this interior really that extensive/ complete?

For finished display the place I've just moved to has a wonderful huge mantelpiece that should be just wide enough, otherwise my original base was going to be a 105mm Howitzer shell box  (couldn't find an 88mm one), from there though I wasnt 100% sure.

Well have broken sprue on this beast, and beast it is!.

For the price of this monster ($229 x 1.5) I would expect more, or should I say less, in the range of ejector pin marks compared to say their ASLAV or Faun SLT-56 tank transporter is a bloody disgrace. Oh well on with some shots I guess...

(PS sorry for the crap camera phone shots my real camera is still to be unpacked somewhere)

This is my new workbench a 4' x 4' corner desk.

This is the box on my desk

The BOX (a previous shot taken with decent camera)

Some internal box shots, the large parts (hull's and turret), PE, Tracks, and some other stuff is boxed separately.

Hull with 1/35 King Tiger hull for comparison

Same Again, different angle.

Progress so far, scaled next to a 1/35 marder III M

Well thats is so far, more next year...
