Italian armor paint
Posted by tigerman on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 11:32 AM

I was wondering if Model Master Acryl Armor Sand is a good match for Italian armor used in North Africa? Is there a better out-of-bottle or perhaps something in Tamiya (preferred). Thanks, i've never built an Italian tank before.

If you can find them,Polly S or Polly Scale makes a lot of Italian colors.I'm not sure if they are discontinuing certain paints or going out of business altogether.

Thanks for the response. I admit that I never cared for that line. For me, they never covered very well.

I've only used a bristle brush straight out of the bottle. They go on a bit thin requiring several coats, some worse than others, but the finished product makes them my favorite brand of paint.

LifeColor makes a set for Italian military vehicles camouflage colors, and includes the following:

Grigio-Verde chiaro

Grigio-Verde scuro

Rosso Ruggine

Verde scuro

Giallo Sabbia chiaro (probably the sand color you are looking for)

Giallo Sabbio scurro

The Lifecolor paints are spectacular.  Amazing finish qualities, very tight fine particulate and beautiful and accurate colors.

Thank you Kurt for your input.

Does Vallejo make anything?

Lifecolour is the best way to go. Grigio is gray, Verde is green, rosso is scarlet, giallo is yellow, sabbio is sand, scuro is dark, chiaro is light, and mimetico is camouflage.

Thats your italian for the day.
