WOW! Late XMas Gift!
Posted by bufflehead on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 1:46 PM

I had a GREAT start to the New Year today when I returned to work from a long holiday weekend!  The ladies at the office apparently got together and got me this for Xmas! Surprise  I guess it arrived a little late!

I've wanted this kit SO MUCH and it was a shock to get it as a gift....I never expected anything like this.  I've never received a model kit from anyone, let alone from coworkers.   I feel very special today!! Big Smile

I promised them that I would build it this year and bring it in when done so they could see it all painted up! Oh, and I have to put in on a base.....yikes!!

Okay that was very cool that they knew about your hobby and acted upon it with this gift, but don't ruin it by taking it to the office after you finish it in the thoughts that they will be thrilled...just sayin'...

Sorta like when I get my girlfriends a "chick flick" or romance novel as a gift then they feel the need to tell me all about it after they've read/watched it...

Sounds like you've got some sneaky coworkers (but in a good way!). Nice score and look forward to seeing what you do with it. Beer

bufflehead,
Congratulations on your co-workers Cool
Could you let me in on the background of the kit - I am so curious on the red houses with white corners and the "jarsgard" fence in the background Indifferent
That is how we make them in the northern countries of Europe.

Very Best Regards

With co-workers like that, I have to ask, "Is your company hiring?"  Ihave loved this tank ever since I first saw an article about it in an issue of FSM in the '90's (July,1995).  Looking forward to the completed build.

In response to the question about the house, the three  Neubaufahrzeugs built, were first deployed to Norway where one was lost.  The other two met their fates in Russia.

THAT is a great gift. I'm a fan of that kit (though I doubt I'll ever get one). Still, the fact that the ladies in your office think enough of you go do this for you is pretty cool.

So..... get that sucker on the bench and post some WIP photos!!! Big Smile

Manstein's revenge

I'm with ya Manny!!  Funny thing is that they actually do want to see the finished model....go figure.

Good thing is there's a lot of guys at the office who will definitely appreciate it, even if it is an obscure pre-WWII tank.

Sneaky is right Bill!  I'm still trying to figure out how they knew I wanted this particular kit.  I mean there are now, what, five plastic kits of the Neubaufahrzeug available? (2 Dragon, 2 Trumpeter, 1 Amusing Hobby) and they got the exact right kit and the right scale Blind Fold

(BTW did anyone know that Dragon recently released a 1/72 version of this same kit?  yay!)

...and to think I almost ordered this kit from Great Models when they had their 50% off sale a couple of weeks ago!! Stick out tongue

As for getting it on the bench any time soon.....uh, riiiiiiiiiiiight!Whistling
