Target ?!!
Posted by Sprue-ce Goose on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 9:56 PM

Anyone notice Target is selling these Abrams tanks for $30.00 ?

http://www.panacheplace.com/c-3-bravo-team.aspx

Yes, I know  they're toys and in 1/18th scale ( huge ! ) if I can get good drawings, I might take a stab at detailing

one as practice for a 1/25th scale scratch build even if it doesn't fit in with my 1/25th scale kits.

It's cheap enough.

Yup, I did know about it. I have 1 of them. They also have a 1/18 Bradley and both of them are available in Sand and NATO Colors. The back of the box shows some other interesting subjects in 1/18 but I have yet to see them on the shelves. I've got my Abrams last Spring and for what I've seen, I don't think they'll bring the other subjects. Kind of late right know but I can check if you need/want to know the other ones in the 1/18 line.

Right next to the 1/35 counterpart also from UNIMAX, Bravo Team series.

Thanks for the info, El Taino.

If you have two, I must presume you are happy with the detail.

I'm not certain what to think about future releases.

A Target employee told me the Abrams kits in stock now were received just after Christmas.

I noticed an RC hobby website was listing the Tiger I as pre-order- and their prices are $40 plus S & H

but I don't see a listing for any of the Bravo Team items on the Target website.

Very odd.

You are very welcome Spruce. It is very odd that they never carried this on their site and is a suprise to me that the just did after Christmas. It was late when I read your post last night, the box was in the cold garage and in my best Professor Farnsworth impersonation, ''I was already in my pajamas''

Here is the pix from the back of the box. They are usually at the bottom shelf and I because the box is so big, I've never seen more than 2 at a time. 1 Bradley, 1 Abrams or 2 of each either Sand or NATO. In the beginning the tank came as a stand alone. Figures were on the pegs for $5 and Paratroopers (very nice BTW) were $7.99. Then they face-lifted the box a little bit and for the same $29.99 they started to include a Tank Commander (a $5 value).

With the 1/32 series, they did the same thing. Originally they sold for $12.99 (if memory serves me well) with figures sets separate for $5.99. They did the same thing with the 1/32 series. Face-lifted the box and for the same $ they gave a figure or 2 with extra guns, sand bags, road signs, duffel bags, etc. About a 5 days ago, I noticed that the huge 1/18 boxes are now home to the 1/32 Black Hawk and Apache with a plethora of accessories for $29.99. My guess is that due to space allotment, they are selling the 1/18 Abrams on line and have shelf room available for the new sets.

The 1/32 scale included the Abrams, Bradley, LAV-25, Black Hawk, Apache Long Bow.

The 1/72 scale tanks sold for $4.99 and included the same as above but the birds were at $12.99. 1/72 accessorised tanks were $9.99. Not a bad a price if you ask me and besides collecting which I do, they have a lot of playability value.

Here is a fictional scene dio my son asked me to help him do over a weekend that he spent with me. I'm no dio builder Wink

A $5.00 Abrams was sacrificed.

I opened a few but many of them are still mint in they packages.

Cheers!

El Taino

Thanks for posting the photos.

I especially like the diorama photos as your son asked you to help him with them.

I hadn't considered the toys as a way to attract children to model building and hope you are able to spend many more hours helping guide your son in the hobby.

No worries about the delay in posting photos.

I've walked out to the garage to search for kits during Chicago winters so I completely understand why you would hesitate to do so in night clothes. Surprise

Not all Targets carry the Bravo Team, but I decided to buy an Abrams when I can visit a store this weekend.
