Italeri M109A6 Paladin and M109G Re-Issue
Posted by HeavyArty on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 5:09 PM

It looks like Italeri has heard our call to bring back the M109 series of howitzers.  The announcement by 3 other companies (AFV Club , Kinetic, and Riich Model) of forthcoming M109s may have also spurred them on.

The M109A6 Paladin is currently available and has been seen on eBay.  It has a blue banner across the top with yellow lettering.

The M109G was announced at the Nuremburg Toy Fair today.  It too should be in a similar box as the Paladin.

Hopefully they will re-issue the whole M109 series.

This should shut down the idiot on eBay gouging people by selling them at $100 each too.

Both the Italeri and Kinetic M109's are already available at Lucky Models. And hopefully this will actually cause a fall in prices on Ebay for the older releases they were sometimes going for between $60 to over $100 on Ebay.

Not really, all Available means at Lucky Model is that they think they can get them soon.  Pretty much the same as pre-order anywhere else.  The Kinetic kit is just vaporware right now.  Once it says In Stock is the key, then they actually have them.

I agree on the price coming back down to a normal level though, finally.

Heavy, I recall you saying something about the Paladin front or top not being accurate on the model. Does it have to do with the front corners of the turret?

It's the upper portion of the hull, the area directly below the gun trunions. There is a huge molded on boomerang-shaped object that was part of the amphibious water crossing kit. This was deleted on early M109-series vehicles and was long gone before the Paladin was placed into production but remains on the kit because they just got lazy and used the one hull for all their variants.

Rob's got it.  The piece can be removed by filling the back (underside) with resin, then sanding it smooth with the rest of the level of the hull top.  Or you can leave it and just sand down the outside edges so they are not that prominent.  It doesn't show much when the turret is in place.  Its up to the builder how to tackle it.

We'll see if the Kinetic and other kits fix this part.  If they do, you could always combine one of them with the Italeri Paladin parts to get a better representation.

I guess I am lucky and didn't even know it. I have one fo the old M109 kits in my stash...I built the M110 and M107 kits last year...not know they were rare.

I have had them from way back when I was really into all things armor.

Definetly good news!  Nice to see a US artillery kit being released.  The price for those is getting crazy on Ebay.  I hope that they can reissue the M110 and M107.  The going rate for one of those is ridiculous.

I'm making notes of all this.  Bow Down

I've got the Revell M109A6 kit along with an aluminum barrel from Barrel Depot and the T-136 tracks from AFV Club.  I picked up the kit itself at my club's contest in Se[tember for $5 so I don't feel too bad about spending a little for some AM goodies.

Are you talking about the Revell of Germany M109A6 or the Revell M109A6?

All of the M109A6 Paladin kits (Revell, Revell of Germany, and Italeri) are the same plastic in the box.  The Revell of Germany kit has different decals (for 1AD in Germany) and has the parts for a Mk19 instead of the .50 cal up top.

The AFV Club tracks and Barrel Depot barrel really dress it up.  The Eduard PE set is nice too.
