AFV Club service
Posted by cwalker3 on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 12:44 PM

I see all the time in this and other forums the horror stories that people tell of their dealings with various modeling related companies. So here is one of the positive stories.

I recently bought AFC Club's M4A3 Stuart tank. As luck would have it, a tiny, but important part disappeared from my table top. I contemplated scratching it, but it was just too small for me to work with. A few days ago I contacted Merit International, AFV's U.S. distributor, about obtaining replacements. Today I get a response to my email letting me know that they have the parts and what it will cost ($5.00) to have them shipped.

One of the things that I really value in a company is the service that they provide after they've taken your money. In this case AFV Club comes through.

Don't you mean M3A3 Stuart not M4A3 that was the Sherman.

It's always nice to hear happy endings.

Funny you should mention this.  I've been building a Tiger I from Acadamy and lost or screwed up a few parts (quite a list actually).  I emailed the list to MRC, the US distributer for Acadamy.  They called me a few days later saying they were happy to say they had all of them in stock. During the phone call I asked if she might be able to send me the photoetched grilles also ( they were'nt on the list).  She found them and called me back to say she was packing them up carefully.

I asked her how much would this cost?  She cheerfully replied, " Oh, there's no charge at all, not even shipping".  She added that my parts will ship that day and I should have them shortly.  Now that's CUSTOMER SERVICE!  That kind of service certainly pre-disposes me to buy Academy brand kits again.

Glad to hear about your similar experience with AFV.

i've never dealt with AFV Club/Merit Int'l, but I do agree with 4allscotties...Academy MRC is excellent!  Been using them for a long time now with Academy and Italeri kit problems and always are treated like royalty.  Tamiya are great to work with too, only thing is that they may not have the parts in stock.  Otherwise, they're really friendly and accomodating, too.
