Hey Bufflehead! Didn't notice my topic got any replies. Thanks! The huge bottle of Tamiya cement was a gift I got from Tamiya themselves when I visited their factory. Confused

Here's a new update however. Been working on the details before I apply a couple of coats of gloss again for decals and oilwash.

I've been applying various bits and pieces, affixed the upper hull to the lower hull and applied fenders and so on. And it's Easter, so here's Easter Blitzkrieg!

I also randomly found an old ruined wallet that had metal mesh on it. Quickly salvaged and applied. May be a little rough, but looks cool! Still working on the edges:

I have also been working on the wood grain on the tools. These were most likely painted over with some grey color, but it adds a nice colorvariation to it. And it's just a plastic kit - don't have to do everything 100% after the historybooks!
The technique used was one I developed right here just when I was to paint the wood. I have a very very realistic technique up my sleeve, but it is time-consuming. And I just want to build this anyways. It looks very good however!

And some simple heavy scratches here and there. These "pop" heavily right now, but that will fade in following steps anyways:

Also the antenna-holder is made out of wood, but I painted that over with feldgrau anyways. But just to show it's wood, here's weathering!

And out of those details, I haven't done too much. Hope you guys approve on the look so far! Tips hints questions and comments and all that are all warmly welcome. Thanks!

Bonus points to ANYONE who can tell me what my friend is currently computer-modelling:

Cheers!

Weewooo! Airbrushing! Works like a _charm_!

Primer:

Hull before the final, watered down "blending" layer:

Turret at the same step (spider _has_ been taken care off):

This is also my first time ever to do a gloss coat on a model. Yeah, you read correctly.. So I tried Vallejo's Gloss Varnish. Looks glossy to me! Pictures taken directly after application:

And side-profile. Do note the battledamaged discussed:

Finally coming togheter quite nicely! Now I'll glue the hull togheter and applying oilwash and details and dust and a mattcoat and COMPLETE! ToastYeah

Haha! So fun meeting old friends again!

Things are great.. Two jobs to worry about, got some bills that needs paying and moviemaking makes me busy. But all fine. I am considering starting a GB again - most likely a new Norway GB. We'll have to see. When it comes to the DML Neubaufahrzeug, it's funny how even Trumpeter released one. Lots of nice ones were in great Norway-based dioramas at IPMS. I'll get a picture up. And hey, I rather have that Armo one than those plastic ones... Pirate   I found that Armo has a 1/72 version which I am really considering, as the price ain't that bad.
Thanks again for commenting!

And the airbrush-hose was ordered a few hours ago. Should hopefully arrive friday or saturday. Hopefully I got the correct one.... Whistling

Hey!! Huxy's back!!  How are things Lasse?  I haven't heard much from you since your Norway GB ended!  I've been wondering if you were ever going to do a Norway II GB since I now have a lovely Dragon Neubaufahrzeug in the stash!!   Guess we can forget that Armo resin kit now!!  LOL!

Anyway, its good to see you back and the little Pz II is looking great!  Good recovery from the lost return roller! And congratulations on winning the bronze at the IPMS!

Bultenibo: Thanks for your comment! The weights is a typical Tamiya thing in their 1/48 scale. It's just to give it a heftier feel. I like it.

SupressionFire: Thanks for your comment as well. When it comes to the returnroller, I never said it would be hit from direct fire. I said shrapnel, as in heavy, blunt object at low speed. When something like that hits your returnroller, it will most likely be bent inwards and the wheel itself fall off... When it comes to penetration of direct fire, it is to my knowledge that war rarely has perfect circumstances. And the wrong angle and at some distance, I can see the Panzer II take on heavy pounding.

As for an update, I need a new hose for the airbrush, which will be ordered soon.... Until then!

Good start!

Understated battle damage is in order for the Panzer II. It was lightly armoured and any round over and including a .50 BMG or equivalent anti tank projectile would pierce it.

Best to keep damage to the sheet metal and fenders..

A really nice build! The tracks looks very realistic.

One question though, what's the deal with the weights? Huh?

Thanks Bill! They tend to go together faster indeed, but never this fast. Whatever kit. My tiny 1/72 Sopwith Camel took months...!

Ben: Thanks!  Your words warm me. Hopefully I can still teach you a thing or two.
I have been looking onto your FaceBook photos quite alot, and, indeed your skills are progressing quickly. The moulded-on tools are all fine by me, I don't really care that much!

Yesterday I got a parsel in the mailbox. Or, at the postoffice. Some tax-money later I had it. New airbrush and lots of other goodies.. Let's start the upper hull fun tomorrow! Toast

Nice to see you back building again Lasse! The 1/48 kits tend to build faster than 1/35 and yours looks like it's coming together nicely despite the return roller mishap. Wink

Ditto!

Nice to have you back, Lasse!

I hope you've been able to find time to check out some of my previous works of the last 6 months as I've really moved things up a gear and my latest Tiger I is by far and away my best work yet. I owe a lot of this to you as you helped me out no end when I first started out.

I was at a show last weekend and actually picked up and nearly bought the Tamiya 1/48 Pz II (French Campaign) but instead showed some restraint and actually bought stuff that I need right now like needle files, cutting mats, blades and brushes!

The moulded -on tools on some of the 1/48 stuff have always been a big turn-off for me so I I'll look forward to seeing how yours turn out.

Anyway, welcome back dude!

All the best,

Ben Toast

Thanks guys!

@Deafpanzer: I won with a random Warhammer figure I took some time painting. I brought him "just for fun" and ain't got any good pictures... But here's one:

@tigerman: Yes, it really has been this long! I tought it was 6 months until I started thinking.. Oops

And thanks too, Tojoman and K-dawg!

Here's todays update.. Can't remember me doing a kit this fast - ever!

I managed to loose one of the returnrollers - and never to be found. So I bent the rod and added some battle-damage to simulate that it had fallen off due to shrapnel or equal. The tracks were painted before they went on, and still require some touching.

I'll take a picture specifically of the battledamage later on. Now both tracks are installed, which is a big step!

Now I can't decide whether to have a figure in the turret or not....

Thanks for tuning in!

Welcome back..

I build that kit's bigger brother the 1/35 scale one and it's a beautiful kit... SUPER easy to build. You couldn't have picked a better one to come back to.

For how long has it been since I even built a model?...... Roughly 1.5 years. Well, I did some building here and there, but nothing real.. Really. What happened? School ended and I got out in work.

Now that everything has stabilized well, I finally got a brand new and awesome workstation, ordered some stash and managed to go to the national IPMS this weekend, I am ready! I did get a bronze, by the way. Proud!

I picked up (amongst other things) Tamiya's petite 1/48 Panzer II - french campaign. With the intention of just building it with nothing more fancyness than that. So, I started at the hotelroom even.

Here's the lower hull getting ready. Interesting concept when it comes to weighing on this one. Rather than the die-cast piece they usually had for these kits, there are now two rods you mount yourself. Love it!

It goes together like a charm. Here's the upper hull mostly complete. Do note the hollowed muzzle!:

and the lower and upper hull dryfitted together:

As the lower hull is just that - a lower hull, I decided to brushpaint it... Here's the first coat:

And yeah, it feels goooood to be back in modelling....
