AFV identification quiz #2
Posted by M1abramsRules on Friday, February 6, 2004 9:03 AM
ok, get the reference books out and the web engines up, because here's the second id quiz.

DO NOT POST SERIOUS ANSWERS IN THE THREAD. email your answer to me.

I came across this thing when I was looking for pictures of what I wanted to use for this quiz, I quickly decided that this was the AFV to do. I think this one will be somewhat tougher than the last one. there is about 3 different names I came across for this vehicle when I was doing some more research, I will accept any of them. you do not need to get the exact version though.

HINT:
it had a 37mm cannon and a machine gun and had a top speed of 50 km/h

CORRECT:6

good luck, I think your going to need it. Evil [}:)]

*edit*
ending time is monday night, so I'm giving you the whole weekend to do research

I am hoping after this quiz that someone else will have a stumper that they want to make everyone guess at. (but if not, I'll continue doing these)

out of everyone on here, I would have guessed you, domi, to know it right off. (don't know why though) I'll take shermie on the quick research front though. for girls, I would take cassibill or frostygirl to get it first. Wink [;)][;D]

That's exactly right! Ah, the fond memories I have of borrowing my Dad's when I was a kid, and Mary Jane Hassenpfeffer's feet sticking out of the vision ports signified to the whole nighborhood that all was well in my world when I was a teen.

The only problem with the Schmeltzer Wiffle Mk II was that it had its gas tank in the front like that. We decided for safety's sake to buy a Pinto instead.

But I was thinking it was the 1937 Sherman concept vehicle.

You've got my guess Chris.

What's with the hints? BAD DJMODELS! Tongue [:P]

Actually, the Germans used two of these on Sunday, March 32, 1944, to deliver eggs to Manstein for his big Sunday brunch, so there are eight injection-molded kits of it -- in 1/15th, 1/35th and 1/72nd, by Dragon, Tamiya, AFV Club, and Academy. Etch sets, resin superdetails, etc. Eduard even makes a set of etch for the eggs. Of course, they are perfectly flat, but no one ever notices things like that.

There are several great books written about their use on that fateful day, and their subsequent destruction later than afternoon by a Russian partisan armed only with an old copy of the boy scout manual.

Was it not March the 33rd..?! Dimensional fabric paint can restore the eggs to their proper shape...

M1,

It's a prewar road roller with a turret mounted liquid asphalt sprayer. He-he-he.

Seriously, I think I saw that in some Tunisia pics on the net.

OK I emailed already.
