LMAO.................wish we could introduce some of this stuff at a local school and see if the teachers can tell real vs. fudged facts............Whistling

I follow a history professor on Twitter who shared his story about submitting an essay with false facts to one of those term paper mill websites...more to see how it would spread than anything. But he had fun with it, including reference to the "Duke of Hazzard" as a key supporter of King John around the time of the Magna Carta, and so on. For someone very familiar with the time period, it was hilarious.

Truth. Monogram and Revell kits didn't show up until the 1750s and the French & Indian War, with the release of the 1/72 Fort Necessity kit. Though marred by inaccuracies including a Medieval-style portcullis and raised wood texture, the kit was extremely popular in the Colonies.

Little known fact: the First Continental Congress was formed after Airfix announced, then pulled, plans to offer a 1/48 B-17 Flying Fortress. This event so enraged the colonials that they rebelled. After production resumed with independence, Monogram sated the desires for a 1/48 B-17 in 1785, and rumor has it that Boeing heavily referenced the kit when designing the actual B-17 150 years later...

Half-off sales only help to fuel the addiction. i should know.

Sales only make the addiction worse. And then there's the model shows. A whole show dedicated to our addiction.

Oh by the way Satch. You gonna go to the model show here in Houston on April 28th?

If all the above methods fail, You can cut down the size of your stash by sending some to me. Big Smile I'll help you get that addiction under control.

Third, and most important.  If you just can't stop buying models, you will accumulate more and more kits and eventually create a "stash".  This is a sign of a serious addiction.

I came back to modeling in last December. Now my stash has 39 kits and will grow.

A stash has a medical value. When I'm stressed out, I go down to my basement and look at my stash. It refreshes my mind!!!

You need help.

I suggest you join MA (Modelholics Anonymous).

First, sign up for Finescale Modeler online forums.  There you can seek help from many others who share your addiction.  They can offer advice and tips on how to deal with this serious issue.  The members will allow, and even encourage you, to speak openly about how this addiction is affecting you.  The hardcore amongst them even post photos and will ramble on about rust, zimmerit, invisible barrel seams, counting rivets and other oddities modelholics are prone to discuss.

The worst thing you can do is model alone.  Join the forums.....we can help.

Second, post lots of WIP photos.  This allows you to be creative and lets others see how you deal with your addiction.  The more you post, the easier it is to come to grips with your problem.

Third, and most important.  If you just can't stop buying models, you will accumulate more and more kits and eventually create a "stash".  This is a sign of a serious addiction.  The problem with a stash is that it keeps growing and growing and can totally overwhelm a normal household.  If and when that happens, do yourself a favor and open up your own Hobby Store.  We actually need more of these because there's actually way more modelholics that we care to admit and they need to buy more models too.

From one modelholic to another....I hope this helps.

BTW, if you've done all of the above already.....well, there's no hope for ya buddy!  Build that Brummbar and move on to the next model!!Stick out tongue

Modelaholism...

The last three days at work, I spent the last half of my lunch hour at my desk working on a scratchbuilt ambulance body.  Photos show it to have bolts on the side walls.  But not just rivets -- about eighty bolts with washer-type fasteners.  What was I doing?  I punched out 80 1.5mm diameter discs from 0.005" styrene, glued them in place.  And then followed up with sliced rod bolts made from .015" diameter styrene rod.  I carefully placed each of these onto the center of my disc/fastener.

Are these symptoms?
