I'm looking to get a new tank sim for the computer. I was wondering, which one is fairly using to play but is fun?? don't care about the era though.

I have always enjoyed Armored Fist and Armored Fist II. M1 Abrams simulator made by NovaLogic for PC. They just came out with Armored Fist III, but I haven't tried it yet. Great game right down to the crew's fire commands being shouted out in the thick of it.

For tank sims alone, you can't top the Armored Fist series (although a bit dated but still a blast to play) Also Panzer Commander (but it's really dated)

For the best of both worlds, Battlefield 1942. Online Multiplayer is awesome. I recently have been playing Call of Duty. No tank driving but I give it a 8 out of 10.

you get to Drive a T24/85 near the end of Call of Duty (only from looking at it from the outside)

Try Combat Mission (either Barbarossa or Normandy). It is a strategy game but you get to command lots of tanks. It is mostly historical and the cool thing about it is the realistic characteristics of the personnel and equipment (inc. tanks) in the AI. I mean when you command a 75mm armed sherman to fire on a tiger, most of the time the shell would just bounce off.

I love Frontline Command. Again it is a strategy title, but I really got into it.
Good range of AFV's with reasonably real attributes, ie Tigers are a real pain, early Shermans are weak etc.

-panzer elite is prety cool, ww2 era tank sim(prety realistic but kinda hard at first)

-steel beasts is a lot like panzer elite but deals with more modern equipment which makes it a bit harder than panzer elite because of all the modern equipment / targeting systems

-any game in the combat mission series, they're strategy games that focus on combined arms small unit tactics (platoon level up to about 2-3 battalions in the larger scenarios) there's are demos available at battlefront.com. barbarossa to berlin deals with the east front , beyond overlord deals with the western front and afrika corps is north africa , crete and italy. i would highly recomend cmbb and cmak these are prety much the only games i have played for longer than a month in many many years. cmbo while good is starting to be a bit dated the graphics are so-so and the other 2 have more options/tweaks that make them more realistic. its hard at first because of the historical accuracy but this is also what makes it so great.
