extra M1 Abrams road wheels?
Posted by TheWildChild on Saturday, April 7, 2012 2:00 PM

I feel bad asking this, but does anybody have any M1 Abrams road wheels in their spare parts box that they wouldnt mind sparing? i dont feel like buying aftermarket abrams wheels that are in resin because i will most likely have to do some major surgery to get them to work and styrene is easier to work with. if anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated!

look for the older Tamiya Modern US accesories set of late 1980s vintage. It came with M1 and M48/M60 series spare road wheels, along with other useful odds and ends like rucksacks, driver and TC figures, early style MRE cartons, etc.

Stik i might try to get my hands on one of these more for the guns and crewmen than anything. those wheels would work, but i need about 7 or 8 or the actual wheels that are part of the kit running gear. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Well one set only comes with two of each type of road wheel... but if you buy four sets to get the eight wheels you need you'll also have a bunch of tank ammo, rifles, SAWs, crewmen, Stingers, rucksacks, steel pots, k-pots...Whistling

you make a compelling argument my friend...........and now the wheels begin to turn in my head lol. that honestly isnt a bad idea, since im building two turrets for the Abrams-ish project in question (search XM77 if you want to know more about it) i will need alot of extra gear and supplies to fulld detail the bigger racks on the backs of the turrets....
