If you start getting offensive ads you may have some nasty cookies on your PC. Try opening your browsers toolbox and go to advanced functions / cookies. Search out any cookie with the term "stat", "track", "count" or "porn" in them and delete them.

Chances are that you will then get more normal ads...

Originally the thread was about "unwanted adds " and i think what was meant was adds that had a sexual content . Maybe thats happening in Sweden where the original poster is from . All i see as far as adds on P.B. are those concerning camera's and such .

I agree,it's a free service, if I deal with a few ads so be it,it's no real bother. But offensive stuff, that shouldn't be,I have not experienced that.

Benefit of going Pro...no ads. Many sites take advantage of providing advertising based on your browsing and online shopping experiences. You can always deactivate those cookies which provide such information to the site which provide these ads to you. The Internet never forgets! It works in conjunction with your computer to deliver to you relevant advertising. So watch where you browse online.

Offensive? I get adds for window and bathroom cleaner.

Im not sure how photobucket does it, but i know google tailors adds based on what you have been looking at on the Internet. EG if you spend all day browsing adult sites, you'll get adult adds.

Hi Scorpiomikey,
Well that is an interesting thought, since I am using Google Chrome I am probably giving the Google guys more information then they could ever ask for.

Anyway, the ad is an abuse against Swedish law and the prostitution and pimping act.

I told Photobucket about this 3 month ago and they promised to pull it down.

I have informed Photobucket and the local authorities.

Best Regards
Johan

Yes, there are ads but i generally ignore them.....it's a free service so i guess one should be happy it stays free because those ads appear on your screen.

A matter of give and take i would say. it doesn't disturb or offend me in the least.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.  I hope that FSM will change their software to allow us to upload from our pc's, rather than using photobucket or other such third party sites.  I have been avoiding using PB and like sites.  Just won't post any photos any more.

No way. I'm active not just here, but on a few other forums, on Facebook and on my blog. I much prefer a central hub where I can upload my pics and grab them for use elsewhere to uploading to each site. I'd use Flickr, but I'm already using it for family pics and such, and a few people get pissy when I take it over for model stuff. PB offers some compelling features, too, such as the codes, mobile apps and, if you're a pro member, lots of awesome upload options (auto-resize, etc).

Get a pro account? I never see ads. But 99% of my uploads come out of mobile apps or through the iPhoto plugin.

panzerpilot

Whenver I try to upload a pic on there, the ads start right when the pic is done uploading. I've found if you click on your album, it skips the ads. Never really paid any attention to them.

Lucky you.  The ads are starting up even before my pics upload....   Angry   Pressing the "skip add" delays it by 15 seconds, as well as the upload....    I'll have to be patient I guess....

I never liked photobucket much. Flickr is definitely the best photo site IMHO.

Unwanted ad's on Photobucket
Posted by JohanT on Sunday, April 15, 2012 2:44 PM

Hi again,

I am not sure if you guys are seeing the same, I guess that Photobucket can tailor the ad's by IP or DNS server, but I am seriously offended by some of the commercial ad's.
They are so offending I won't even try to translate them to you guys.
It is so explicit I think it might even be a law offence in Sweden.
I have pointed this out to the customer service people at Photobucket some 3 months ago and they promised to keep an eye on it but now the very same ad's are back.

Can anyone of you recommend a different service provider, I have had it with Photobucket!

Very Best Regards
Johan
