I did a little research on the thing and it appears to be a hodgepodge of T-72 and M-60, with a homegrown boxy hull and turret, probably to make it look more Western." I wonder if the thing has an inbred desire to attack itself? Laugh [(-D]

I also found delightful the Iranian Type 72Z. An ungraded T72, you might think? Nah, it's an upgraded T-55! Hence the Type 72, of course!

And then there's the fact that the Iranians still have hundreds of Chieftains in service. A good tank in its day, but easy meat for today's Western MBT's. Are these things straight Chieftains, or are they the Shir Iran version?

I would never have guessed it was a Iran MBT.

Had to go to the site to see the pic! Looks very much like an M1 doesn't it?

Well, know this is a tough one. I think you all gave good guesses. The answer is:

Iranian Zolfaqar 3 MBT. I agree it does look like an M1. Here's the link to the site where I got this pic.

Larry,

Oops! Misread your post. I thought that was your guess when you referred to the Turks. Sorry about that. Blush [:I]Shy [8)]Smile [:)]

Dwight, Id have to go with Larry. The road wheel and the drive sprocket looks like an M-60. Plus I think its sports a 105mm gun.

Wait, I didn't say it was an M-60! [:0]

Either that or its some Eastern Bloc MBT outfitted to look like an M-1 to fulfill an OPFOR role. LOL.

Turks use the M60 -- theirs will soon be upgraded by the Israelis to the Sabra standard.

I was just stalling for time! It's unusual that I can't place a tank. Looks awfully Vickers-esque in hull shape and it's even got seven roadwheels like the Mk7, but the gun and some elements of the turret shape are throwing me off.

Sorry, Sherm. Not North Korean either.

Guys, I have to go. Just post your answers. I'll be back on Monday (that's Sunday in the US). You'll probably figure this out by then.

Clue #8. It is not a photochop or fake. I just removed some signs in the background but the picture is still 98% same as the original.

Good luck and God bless you.

Well, if we consider Tigers as Hitler's toys, then maybe I can accept that.

Clue #5. It has been shown to the public just recently.

Disapprove [V]Sorry but nope!

Clue #4. It is not Korean or Japanese. Not from the Philippines either as we don't have modern MBT's here.

I'll post the entire link when somebody makes a correct guess.

Hey, guys. Just thought I might as well jump in the bandwagon.

Found this rather interesting pic in the web just recently. Can you name this tank?

Clue #1. It is not an M1.

Clue #2. It is not a Sherman, either (sorry ShermWink [;)])

Clue #3. It is not American.

Note: I erased some signs in the background to make the location a bit more mysterious. He-he-he.
