Tony, the turret is NOT glued together yet,that would be a pretty big gap though 

Looking real good!  Have same kit in my stash as I think it was my first five kits after a long break.  Maybe I will build it for Pz IV GB some day...

LOL! I imagine I would do the same! 1000 pieces - that's more like five kits in my world.

Tojo: The build is looking real good. Can't wait to see it with some paint on. Do you have any special plans for the painting?

There's almost the same number of parts in one suspension bogie on this kit as there are for the entire suspension (including wheels) on the old Tamiya Pz.IV ausf.D kit...

Thats looking good. Nice to see some early Pz IV's on here. I will be inetersted to see how you get on with the AK. I am going to try these at some point myself, including the Pz Grey.

Glad the build log is helping you out, the Vorpanzer kit was DML's "correction" to their original Pz IV E "Super Kit" release in terms of the errors with the sprocket/final drive position and a couple other accuracy issues. The Super Kits are a challenge in terms of the parts count, no question about it, but they do build up with some nice detail in the end. Look forward to seeing this one get painted!

1,000 part kits is what got me started in armor  You still glue 'em one part at a time.   A very Looong time.

The ones you've done so far look real nice.

 A journey of a 1000 parts begins with attaching part C2 to part C3.

This one is finally ready for paint,Magic tracks and all.assembly had a lot of parts but fit was good and build was not difficult.Granted,I couldn't deal with the smallest pieces of PE,but I am happy with the outcome so far.

Lovely looking build Tojo. Will be nice to see some dark grey on it.

This is a nice looking kit, like those big 1000+ piece kits.  Your construction looks great and you did it rather quickly.  Look forward to the paint.

I have this same kit sitting on my bench, it's next in line. I have to admit, when I first opened the box it scared the heck out of me. I feel the time has come for me to venture in to this bad boy. Yours is looking great.

Anthony, you're just whipping through this build so far. The track sag looks great too.

Everything looks great but you've got an issue with the barrel recoil sleeve. There shouldn't be a gap between it and the mantlet, the two are supposed to connect together smoothly and the barrel stick out from the opening, like this:

The issue is likely with the metal barrel and how it interacts with the whole assembly. You have to add the extension to the recoil housing and then slip the barrel through to get it right...if you slip the extension over the aluminum barrel, it doesn't come down far enough and you get the gap that's present on your build. Hopefully this is something you can still fix before painting!  

Gotcha Bill thanks,I can blame the vague Dragon instructions,or perhaps my own inattention,but everything is glued and I don't think it's coming apart easily Hopefully it won't detract from my build overall.

PS it looked good to me looking at it before,but now that you pointed it out,the barrel does look odd to me now, oh well thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Anthony! However the DML kits usually include two different types of end caps (one plain and one with bolt detail) and of course should also have the styrene barrel option if you feel like trying to fix it. Sorry I can't offer any more advice than that!

I put on the basecoat,painted the tools,painted and weathered the tracks.Next up,more detailing,adding spare tracks and markings.

My Panzer IV is just about done,just have to tweak the weathering and add the turret doors and figures.Only issues I had were the gun barrel and a problem fitting the tracks all the way into the drive sprockets.

Man, you flew through this kit. Once you tweak your weathering out, you're going to have a sweet build. Like the muffler.

Figures will be a nice addition to this one!

Congrats on conquering that intimidating kit. I like the wood work and the tracks have great sag to them.
