AA magazine placement question
Posted by mgh on Monday, April 30, 2012 1:06 PM

Hello Everyone,

I am building an Italeri Staghound AA.  Pretty neat kit, and I love the subject, but I know little to nothing about armor.  The Italeri instructions are good, but maybe not for a new builder.  For example, they do not instruct where not to put glue if you want piece to move, as in allowing these AA guns to swing up and down.  Not a big deal, but it could have fooled me if this had been one of my first kits.

Anyway, I am trying to assemble the AA guns that are mounted in the turret, and I have one side of one gun done, at all is OK.  The interior side of the gun has a magazine.  Does someone know if this magazine rotated with the gun, or is it stationary as the gun moves?  It is difficult to tell from the instructions what and where this piece should be glued.

This is a picture of the partial assembly with the magazine assembly set to the side.

This is my best guess as to what it should look like completely assembled.

Thanks for any advice.

hmmmmm im no expert here, but my guess, with a mount like that, is that the mag would rotate with the gun.

The Staghound AA had the Frazer Nash turret installed. They were belt fed.

Would that belt feed have rotated with the gun?  On this kit, the instructions would suggest that the belt feed stays stationary while the gun elevates.

Thanks for the help.

The gun only moves up and down. The entire turret rotates along with the mount, the magazines, the gunner, etc.
