Friuli -- major tread problem
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, February 7, 2004 11:27 AM
I've noticed as I put my Panther treads together that they are curving. The length is not flat, it arcs in a certain direction. I am becoming alarmed, as with every degree of arc the chance of a flat sit on the wheels decreases.

Any ideas on why this is happening or what I can do to stop it?

Larry: they all do that it is normal ,,,,,, the difference between right and left side , on the vehicle you will not notice . Whatever you do , don't try to straighten them !Black Eye [B)]

I have them on my Tiger II, and they did not do that. Hmmm.

yea , I can't remember my tigers , it was a bit ago , but I have done 2 sets of panther and they both did it , and my panzer 3 did it as well . What I do with all my sets is test fit them first before painting leaving a couple links unglued with long wires , if the fit is good , remove them paint em ' they look so darn pretty as is ! But no tank has sterling silver treads ! Cool [8D]

My Panther set curved some as well, It is unnoticeable on the tank. Also, as the were handled the amount of curve diminished.

Ok, thanks Claymore. It might even be a way they have of making the treads cling tothe wheels. I wonder why my Tiger II treads were straight? Then again, they were the older Friul set.

They also do that with the Pz IV tracks. Ive built about 5 or 6 of the Tigers and none of them did that either. At first i thought I was doing somethingw rong too, but with each set I kep realizing it didnt hurt anything.

The only set of Friul tracks I've done were for my PzII. I didn't have any problems like that with them. The only big problem I had was that the teeth on the Tamiya drive sprockets were a different distance appart than the spacing on the links. Easily fixed with a set of Friul metal sprockets!

Good luck with them.
