Do you revisit your old models?

I give most of my finished models away so I have few completed at hand to revisit.  Additionally, at the near glacial speed at which I am hacking through the stash I needn’t slow that progress by tinkering with those kits that have escaped the hobby desk as “complete.”

I do look at them quite often because I have to dust them off. Sometimes, I repair some broken parts or if it grabs me, I do them all over again. 

I do every now and then. Usually with some sort of AM major component on the few recent examples. But seeing how large my stash is these days, I dont modify older kits as frequently as I used to do.

The older model all have a donor card!! But I usually keep the as a learning experience

I will occasionally use old models as "test bed' subjects to test out something before committing on the current project but that's about the extent of it. Older models also become parts donors  as well if required.

I frequently re-visit old models, often doing a complete strip and re-finish.  I'll also d/a  them just for parts, depends on the quality of the original build, and if I need the parts bad enough for another project. An example:

The Cromwell in the background in this pic is a good example. I picked up some Friuls, and am slowly cleaning up the original build. It'll get a strip and re-paint, and then proper stowage and markings, neither of which I did several years ago when I first built it. Ther are several models in my model room right now, awaiting the same process.

I revisit from time-to-time as well but never do I re-do a model. I just learn from the past mistakes.

I recently took a Dragon JS-II and added some washes to it. Debating whether or not to put some pigs on it as well.

Normally, I would say no, but then I don't have many old kits left.

My old/ out of date models are re-used for parts; usually for Sc-Fi projects.

For example: My old Aurora Panther and Tiger tank kits donated their engine decks for a project.

Like Tojo, I try not to do this. In the past I have and usually end up making a tremendous mess out of things. Thus, I keep them hidden in dark corners where no one will see them and will pull one out occasionally for a yardstick to measure my progress with. Still can't get over what I did to that Tiger II...

No,not the same model,but I will try again with a duplicate kit to do a better job the next time around.

Yes, I often do. Having spent a quarter century in the military, I moved every 3-4 years and built kits normally went into a box and got banged around, missing parts, getting broken,etc.

Every so often, I'll crack open one of the boxes to grab something to use for another project. Almost invertably, I end up grabbing an old, beat up kit and after fishing some of the bits & pieces out of the box, I'll rebuild it, repaint it and redisplay it.
