Jagdpanzer 38(t) (Sd.Kfz. 138/2) Hetzer
Posted by kitbashn82 on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 4:46 AM

With my first post here, I would like to post my first ever armor build, and first ever weathered build. The kit is the DML Hetzer Early Version. I built it 95% out of the box (the tracks are aftermarket). Paint is Vallejo Model Air, weathering was completed with AK Interactive washes, grimes, and streaks. I have just over 100 hours in a 10 day period into the build.

*edit, I just noticed I have the right side tracks on wrong...guess I will need to fix that.

Welcome on board then. Nice Hetzer you built there. I'm waiting for my Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Late Prod. newly released by Academy.  Priced just over $20, I don't have to think twice to order.

Welcome Sign Always nice to see new talent in the forums.

For your first armor model it looks as though you jumped right on into it, with serious weathering and AM tracks. Very nicely done. I could only have dreamed that my first build looked as good, or even todays.

What did you use for the tracks?

Thanks. Yep my first armor build, been building cars since I was 6 years old, kind of burnt out on them so decided to build the Hetzer. The tracks are from Friulmodel,  one of the guys in my club recommend. them to me.

Welcome aboard. Nothing like jumping in at the deep end. It was years before i tried weathering armour like this. Great work you have done.

I love Fruil tracks, but i only use them to replace rubber band tracks. It can get very expensive and many of the tracks that come with Dragon kits are just fine as they are.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Welcome sir, good to have you here. You have produced an excellent first build, by the looks of it figured you must have experience in other types of modeling.

Thanks. I have building model cars for close to 25 years, so this hetzer was a nice change of pace.
