Hey all. Haven't posted in a while since I've been on a study abroad program in Austria since the end of March. The program sent us on a trip to Berlin this past weekend so naturally I hit as much military stuff as I could. Here are some pics.
Graffiti left by Soviet troops in the Reichstag.
Patriotic War memorial in the Tiergarten.
From there I moved on to the Deutsch-Russiches Mueuem, or the house where the German surrender was signed.
In the museum they've got a nice collection of weapons, uniforms and other artifacts from WWII.
And out back they had some tanks!
JS-2
JSU-152
SU-100
T34/85. I love they way they look with T-54/55 wheels.
M-30 122mm
SIS-2 57mm
I have some detail shots of the above vehicles but none of the guns. I can post them if anyone is looking for something specific, I may have what you need. Thanks for looking!

Awesome shots Erik, thanks for posting them.
Great pics Erik. Thanks for posting them. Those vehicles look to be in pretty good shape even though they are being kept outside.

Very cool pictures. It must be a little surreal seeing all these Russian mementos in the German capital and then not reflect on the carnage of the battle.
Thanks for sharing and Manny said to say that the armor needs more rust.

Thanks for the pics, I enjoyed seeing them - especially the graffiti in the Reichstag.
But Erik, I have to ask........ ( someone has to do it )
do you have any pictures of the broad that you studied?
Very cool! Like tigerman, I find it fascinating to see all of the Russian gear on display...the Russians weren't exactly subtle about reminding the East Germans about who won the Great Patriotic War for obvious reasons!

Great stuff, thanks for posting! Definitely one of the places on my bucket list, so much history!

Lots of memories in that city. My first trip there and communism was still going strong and most figured the city would be divided for at least our lifetime. My second trip there was a little while later and I spent my 26th birthday knocking it down. My final trip there was later that year after the reunification. It was strange being able to just walk back and forth between sides in spots that a year earlier would have ended with a bullet or been plain impossible because of the wall.
That would be awfully cool to see in person. Don't know that I'll ever get to do the same!

WOW ! terrific pictures ! ...like others have said, it is hard to believe all this Soviet gear is in Berlin..
I was looking at the pics and actually had to go back to the beginning to make sure I had read it correctly.
Su 100, ISU 152, IS-2 and of course the T-34-85 and 76... man o' man how I envy you !
The Great Patriotic War was Germany's fault (had to say it) so I feel it is a fitting reminder....
I'm trying to decide if I should delete my last sentence....mmmm let it ride for now......
Thanks for the great pictures,
tread

Thats why I'm kind of surprised the stuff is still there, don't think anyone would have blamed them if they removed it by now.
I think the equivilent might be having the Enola Gay on display in Hiroshima
Nice pics.. ! its cool to go to places like this... and see where it happened..

Thanks for the replies all! The best thing about the memorial is the fact that it was located in West Berlin! You can imagine how they felt about. The museum with the ISU, JS etc was in the East. When my dad was stationed in West Germany he did the tour of West and East Berlin and remembers going to that same museum. I guess some Army guys that he was with climbed onto the T-34/85 and discreetly put a unit sticker on the gun barrel
