OT-26 Finally Finish
Posted by T-rex on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 1:43 PM

It been a long time since I've finish a model and a Diorama, but this little guys is ready and is on fire (quite literary).

Overall the kit was pretty good, its not a common tank to see, and I certainly made it look unique. This is a old  ZVEZDA kit (1:35 scale) that was pretty cheap, but wasn't as easy as I though. Parts didn't fit, gaps everywhere, ans worst of all, the rubber tracks.

These tracks are just awful, no detail, and there actually too short, so I had to pull them together to make them fit, the right side track aren't even connected, which is why I rotated the model the other way, and covered with mud.

Note the barrel and MG isn't straight, it seems the OT can swivel its nozzle for better aim, the MG follows it too

My only concerned it the dio itself, basically its fine but its maybe not as realistic as it should look because of the colour tone, lack of props (like helmets, bullets etc.) and the scenerio is not clear, it should look like its in battle, not so much a practice exercise (on second thought, thats not a bad idea)

Next build is already coming along nicely.

Nice work especially the shooting flame!  Duster looking real good... I'd love to see how it comes out.

Not bad on the little flame tank considering the difficulties with the kit! Dios are things that always take practice in terms of composition and arrangement but you have to start somewhere and I don't see anything that jumps out as being out of place or that detracts from the display. Yes

I'm not saying the dio is bad, its just not my best work, I just feel like its blank and boring, as if the diorama was not necessary, but in another way it is, like showing the purpose of the OT-26 as a flame thrower tank to clear out enemy trenches

Perhaps I'll ask the guys at the dio forum for some help since its the setting that has the problem, no the model itself.

One small mistake that I found on the model is the paint job, there are some white residue on the surface, it must have been the diluted water with white glue that I applied over the the diorama so the static grass wouldn't come off. But it has stick to the model, I should have covered it instead of assuming that is wouldn't have showed, though this is just a minor problem.

Any other comments or advice...

Well, it may not be your best work T-rex, but I like it nonetheless, especially the flames spewing out from the gun!  The dio definitely shows the purpose of this flame thrower tank!
