I was just given this kit as a birthday gift from one of my students. Most of the kit seems okay, but the roadwheels are a major distraction for me.  They were molded not as double wheels, but molded together in single, fat pieces. I suppose I could chuck them to my dremel and use a saw blade to at least provide the image of double wheels, or I could use those from the Unimax Forces of Valor kit that I have extra.  Does anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks for the replies.  I assumed about being an A1, probably because that was the photos I was looking up.  It was my first armor, and definitely not the last.  I want to do some sort of APC are something to go along with it.

 

The tracks were a pain, until I got some CA accelerator.

What vehicle would best accompany this tank?

Probably the best for this older type of M1 is the Italeri M113. It is a Vietnam era vehicle that if painted properly, can look like the version in use through the 80s, 90s and into 2000s.

Dragon makes the M2/M3 Bradley, but very late versions that would be too new for this older Abrams.

I do believe that Revell makes an older Bradley variant that would be perfect as well.

Academy also does a few military cargo trucks (M35 and M977 HEMTT) that would be fine with this tank.

When saw the first picture of the Abrams, I was impressed...then I scrolled down and saw that quater and was stunned!  Great work

It looks good, one of my favorite old school 1/72 scale kits. It is an M1 and not an M1A1 though. It is the best kit of the initial M1 Abrams tank available.
