modern antenna length
Posted by waynec on Thursday, May 10, 2012 10:48 PM
i noticed on my 3 modern trumpeter kits (LAV-III, COUGAR, CENTAURO VRC-105) there is the antenna base, the springs and just a short stub for the antenna. back when dinosaurs roamed the earth our primary antenna was a long wip maybe 8' long. you could go fly fishing with these things.the aux receiver one was usually shorter. are the antenna on modern vehicles short or is this a model moulding thing? the make no mention of stretching sprue to make a longer one.

There are two current antennas in use.  The first is the same one you remember.  It is a two-piece, thicker antenna that is a total of 8' long.  In 1/35, that comes to 2 3/4".  The second is a new one that is  avery thin, shorter, one piece antenna measuring 6'.  2" in 1/35 will do for it.
