Steel Cats Group Build Feeler
Posted by tigerman on Friday, June 1, 2012 2:19 PM

I was going to wait until September, and still may do so, but I kind of need some styrene therapy right now. Propeller

There appears to be much interest in this GB, so is anyone up for starting it July 1st, or is that too early? I initially wanted to start after the summer anyways.

The GB would pretty much consist of the Big Cats, i.e. Panther, Jagdpather, Tiger I, Sturmtiger, King Tiger, and Jagdtiger. We could also add the Leopard and others that might apply. I don't think of the Hellcat as qualifying, since it was a light tank.

So what is everyone feeling (or not)?

***Edit, GB has been renamed Steel Cats

Eric:

The aftermarket zimmerit came in last week so my Dragon Porsche turret Royal Tiger  is good to go.

I was aiming to be ready for Sept since I'm slowly working on a Hotchkiss H38 and a M3 Stuart right now so I may be a little slow off the start. Still it will be nice to work on something nice and big for a change instead of these tiny little light tanks. I'm starting to get eye-strain here. Toast

Erik,if you want to start soon, that's okay, but I still can't jump in until Sept or Oct,so it depends how long you will make it.  If it ends in early 2013 would work for me.

thanks,Anthony

I was thinking 6 months, which is longer then normal for one of my GB's. Perhaps waiting until September is the correct thing to do. I can always start another project.

Thats a big yes from me. I wouldn't be able to start until the end of the year/early next year, but i am deffinatly in.

Would any of the other variants of the Panther/Tiger be included, just so i know what my options are.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I'd like to do a big cat.

Think modern big cats like Leopard would be nice too.

But, that is IMO.

If it's 6 months I could knock out a couple of big cats.

Yes. Bergepanthers and any other variants are acceptable.

Okay, we'll stick to September. I sort of figured that many would be too busy. We'll try again in August and create a GB thread.

Eric- COUNT ME IN!  This time I will READY!  So starting in September would be PERFECT so I can finish my current builds thru the summer.   For the Big Cats GB, I will build Dragon #6600 Tiger I. Big Smile

Can't wait to build something bigger than Pz III and StuGs.  If it is going on for six months or so, then I might build another one, either Panther or Jagdtiger. Wink

I'm glad there is plenty of interest. I hope there is no harm with going back to the September start? I feel foolish, but wanted to test the waters. In hindsight, I have lots to do and should finish that Zero!

Hi Eric,

I would like to "bounce" on this with my Dragon King Tiger # 6208 + goodies that I bought a couple of years ago. I swear every time I walk into my man-cave I hear it.

However I would not be able to start until September since I have 2 GB's to complete, my Panzerwefer and Sd.Kfz.164 Bergepanzerwagen IV.

Eric: Sept works great for me. My birthday is Sept 4th so I'm tempted to buy another Tiger but well, I'll try to get this one done first!

I pulled out the kit and it's Dragon Premium Edition Kit 6312

Hi Eric,

I would like to join this GB.
I have started to clean the parts of two Dragon Panthers, I hope that does not disqualify them from entering?

Very Best Regards

Put me down as a tentative entrant.  I love your GB/s Eric and maybe by Sept. I will be more mentally ready.  The modeling funk I am in really has a tight grip.  From a high of 27 models in 1 year a while back to zero completions and it's June.Crying

The plan would be for an Initial Tiger.  The Dragon kit, not sure the kit number.  But it's the older one that was worth some money, then re-released so value went down but is going back up a bit.  These are kits though... not investments.  It would be 100% OOB.  Sorry David, if your peaking< I know it will likely cause you pain to see inaccuracies not fixed.Wink

SWEET. Spet is just fine by me. I will be moving all my stash and everything else around August, so with any luck i should be set up and ready to go by end of Sept. I have narrowed it down to one of 4 kits. Italeri Bergepanther, Dragon Coelian, CH Panther with Pz IV turret or CMK Bergetiger.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

But still it bites when we get excited about a new release, spend the $$$$ and year or two later better kits come out at about the same price that we paid for the older kit . My stash is full of them . Hope ypu get back into  building Marc . Yes
