Tamiya M 51 Isherman Done 7/19/12

I'm not a real bug for colors,i'm not going to go crazy finding an exact match.The Lifecolor was a recomendation and I thought it looked good.If I didnt airbrush I would have used the Tamiya recommendation,TS-46 in a rattle can,which didnt look bad either.

REALLY nice! I am doing the same kit now..the paint is killing me! I have been over hundreds of pics, of M51's between 67-73..I swear, some look like yours, some look light gray, some more OD..I figured light, weathering, etc. all play into this. Ive also discovered their paint was always standard at that time. Have many of you run into this problem? Especially the Centurians on the Golan, where some are surely OD...I usually use sprays, as I havent moved up to airbrushing, but it looks like I shall have no choice. Any advice or comments? TY! Leigh

OK, so I'm watching TV the other day while working on my M51+, or whatever it is, and there's a dorky movie on, a farce about the war in North Africa. Really stupid, but better than "The View" and I happen to look up because I heard a loudish engine. Lo and behold, here comes a genuine M51 around the corner in what's supposed to be a torn up Lybian or Tunisian town, on the screen for at least 10 seconds, then makes a later, shorter appearance. Full-on IDF fittings, stowage, color, with "German" markings. Nifty. I think the movie was called "Sarge". Totally unremarkable, except for the tank.

And the gun was really long.

And it's got a long barrel. The last contest/show I went to had to split one of the armor classes in to "long" and "short"  barrels. This thing would have been in a class of its own.

Outstanding build!  I never get tired of looking at that LONG barrel.  Weathering looks excellent on the tracks and wheels.

Looks real nice Anthony.  Color coat looks like it went down really smooth.

Looks good . I've heard of life color paints but never used them ......lokks like you had good results with them .

I had some time off from work last week,so I got some bench time in.All basic painting done with Lifecolor Isreali Sand UA20.It was my first time shooting Lifecolor and it went well.Filtering and weathering up next.I plan not to weather too heavily,a little chipping and some dusting.

Nice clean build Anthony, looks like it came together pretty quick. Look forward to seeing it with paint on.
