I have been busy collecting Vietnam era models, and slowly building them. Its hard to keep track on one model, as having many i tend to pick up another before ive finished one.

Almost complete, would like to dust off my Tamiya weathering master (item 97079) and add mud, dust and wear to the rasied edges. i still have to paint the figures eyes and add decals. I dont why at the time i left the armour plate off the 30 cal, maybe i read this was common for a better view. I will have to look into that again Oh i just noticed i have to paint the hand gun in his holster, and i think a mix of greens for the equipment would look a lot better. Im always open to improvement and comments thanks.

Ice

Looks like a nice clean build. A couple of suggestions. The spare track should be the rubber color as the main tracks. Definitely need some weathering. VN red dust for sure. The front lights need to be painted/cleaned, look like the are green.

Here is a peek at my Ontos to give you some ideas

Thanks Redleg, just the sort of advice i need.

After the post, i realised how much more i could do so i gave it a black wash around seams and hatches etc, i then dry brushed on some chrome silver x-11 for some scratches and wear areas, i added the decals and weathered them with tamiya master. i also removed the front jerry i had added as i dont think it matched well enough. Your right about the lights, i will paint them, the track and a couple of other bits i seemed to have missed and then add some VN red dust and / or mud.

I will post up the pics when im done.  :)

Well i did a couple of things today.  First i went about painting all the bits i missed, the spare track, the front lights, the black voids under the light panels, repainted the face on my figure and added his eyes, then painted his handgun.

I then applied all the decals, added silver chrome and black wash as mentioned above, drilled out the gun barrels on the 30cal &50cal's, also drilled out the front and rear welded  tow hooks and the exhaust pipe.

Im not happy with the way i have glued the rear recoiless rifle ends not square, i will have to razor saw them off and reglue them straight. bugger.

I went for a ride on my MX in the afternoon & found some really red dirt, from a place called red hill road :)  .  I think its very close to VN dirt colour. waiting for it to dry out and then i can apply it to my model.

Any easy ideas to apply the dirt...do i mix up and use white glue?

I was very happy with my figure, one of my best efforts i have done so far.
