1/35 Testors Sturmtiger WIP - FINISHED
Posted by ozzman on Friday, July 6, 2012 9:24 PM

Got this model on clearance at Ollie's about a month ago. I started I today. There are a few minor fit issues and gaps that need to be filled, but it's not a bad model.

It's actually a pretty decent model. I didn't care for the molded on zimmerit, but it had nice detail except the crane.

I have made more progress on the Sturmtiger. I decided to keep all of the hatches, closed, so I will not be painting the interior.

Never seen this one from Testors before . Interior detail is more than what Tamiya had on theirs .

Looks good Ozz!  Is this a rebox of the old Italeri kit?

Yes, it is the Italeri kit.

Put on a coat of dunkelgelb. At this point, any suggestions for the camo would be great. I have olive green and red brown, but I'm not sure exactly how I want to paint this.

The muzzle looks wrong. The sheath or whatever it's called should be flush.

I put on the camo today. Nothing fancy, I freehanded it. I also fixed the barrel.

Looks good so far I like your camo scheme. I am pretty sure that big ring on the muzzle is a counterweight to balance the gun, seems to me I remember reading that somewhere.

Mark

Thats looking nice, have you based that scheme on a particular vehicle? i like it.

Mark, yes that was the purpose of that large ring at the end of the barrel.

Well, I finished the model. The decals are a mix of the kit-supplied ones and Tamiya. The figure is also from Tamiya.

Seems like it came together pretty nice. Is this the kit that comes with the clear display case?

The Sturmtiger came out great ozz!!  Camo is perfect and the molded zim looks pretty darn good to me!  I just love that big, stumpy mortar pointing straight up like that!

Professor, I can't say with conviction, but the AFV Club Sturm is the newest of them all. It does come with PE grills, which neither Tamiya or Testors/Italeri give you.

The Testors kit does have molded on zimmerit, but it's not of the best quality. It also comes with some interior and an engine. It includes link-and-length tracks.

Tamiya may come with indy tracks, but lacks the grills. It would need zimmerit to be accurate. The AFV Club also lacks zimmerit.
