Hi Phil,

I know some modellers been discussions about StuG III "Unknown Unit" before.

I believe StuG III "UnKnown Unit" "D" Letter Black marked on the Barrel in Eastern Front.  Probably in Spring 1943. also Base Coated - German Dark Yellow ( RAL 7028 ) without sprayed Camo.

cheers

Because on occasion the photos that kit markings are based off of do not have good background information. No distinctive unit markings, or information from the time/place/unit accompany the original photograph. A bit better than 25 or so years ago when you got a generic sheet of numbers, crosses and standard divisional markings and left to your own to mark it....

In the days of hyper accurate models with resin, photo etch and side mouldings why do we still see model manufatures using the titles "unknown unit" 1944 etc.

Its one of the few things that annoys me about the hobby, Dragon say its a Stug produced in November 1943 but cant tell us which unit it was assigned too!

Glad I got that off my chest today Bang Head
