Hi all....Been lurking here for a while and finally joined....
I've been modeling off and on since I was 8 (almost 40 years) but until last year never built a tank. Built a couple Testors and Tamiya kits, then took advantage of Dragon's summer sales to put together a little stash....
Here's the Pz III J I just finished....
This kit has quite a few firsts for me....
First Dragon kit .......great detail but such tiny parts...could use better instructions...
First use of (gasp!) an airbrush....had one for a few years but never could get good results...thanks to all the tips here finally got decent results, although I did have some 'ponding' of the base coat on the rear hatches...
First kit with PE....I like the detail it adds but it is hard to stick...gotta use CA
First use of "Future"...seemed to work OK...I noticed some silvering in the ritterkreuz(sp) but sealing seemed to make it disappear (the one on the back is crooked though
)....can't wait to try it on AC canopies...
First use of pastel chalk....I probably overdid the weathering on the upper hull because I liked working with it.
