Hello everyone. Just finished this kit by CMK. I like the look of this little tank , especially the suspension.
It went together pretty well without any major problems. The one thing I didn't like too much is the tracks. They could do with some better detail. Other than that it's not too bad. I only scratch-built a few minor details to spruce it up a bit
I heard that Tamiya picked up this kit and I can honestly say that It's not quite up to Tamiya's usual standards.
Enough chit-chat here it is.
Comments and criticism more than welcome. Thanks for looking guys.
Peace.
Mike
Just passing the time while waiting for the mothership.
You dressed it up nicely! Good work on this one, always neat to see the lesser-known subjects get built up. Other than the suggestion to add some dirt or dust weathering to the tracks, not much to recommend on this one.

Thanks Bill.
Yeah, I'm going to start branching out and build some things other than your standard German WWII afv's...maybe some Russian WWII afv's...
Looking at the pics I'd say you're right....The tracks need more weathering.
Thanks for your input!
"I heard that Tamiya picked up this kit and I can honestly say that It's not quite up to Tamiya's usual standards." Tamiya has a long history of reboxing other companies' kits and issuing them. Many Italeri (SdKfz 234 Puma, old Hetzer, P-40 Medium tank, etc.) and now the CMK Pz 57 (t). Not their own tooling nor do they represent that.

Mr.Chow,
I must say I was a bit surprised to learn that about Tamiya, though not necessarily disappointed.
I'm sure that they use some discretion in choosing which kits to rebox. The CMK kit isn't terrible by any means but this makes me a little wary about purchasing Tamiyas kits.
Is there some way of knowing which are reboxes before buying?...short of posting the question on modeling forums?
I once built a Tamiya hetzer back in the 80's....is it possible that it was Italeri?
NIce painting on the muffler there as well as the restrained weathering on the german grey. A very nicely finished model.

I have the Tamiya re-box of this kit and it actually has CMK written clearly on the box so I think it is pretty clear on this one. Can't comment on the other kits.

Tamiya always puts the original manufacturer of their re-boxes on the box.
Blitz-Thank you...much appreciated.
Mitch & Bronto-Well that's good to know. Thanks for the info.
I'm not sure of any all encompassing list but just post and ask. If you ask you'll get the latest info. You gotta remember that Tamiya has been around a long time and many many of their items (pre-1989) can be kinda rough. Indeed, they themselves have re-done older kits (Pz IV, JagdPanther, Tiger, Willys Jeep, StuG III). Just b/c there's a "tamiya" label on something, doesn't make it the latest and greatest.
If there is a subject you're interested in, make a post and people can chime in w/kit suggestions. Sometimes it's Tamiya, often it's not. That's just how it goes.
