Looking for a M997/ambulance shelter for humvee
Posted by LemonJello on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 9:42 AM
I just took over a new section here and we have converted 2 old M997 shelters for use as our data vans, and I want to make one as a model in 1/35. There are plenty of base line humvees out there, but is there a kit of the 997? Or will it require major surgery and scratchbuilding to make this happen?

Any help would be appreciated.

Academy does the M-997 hard top ambulance. It is kit #1352. I bought one about 2 years ago from www.militaryhobbies.com. They are still sitting on shelves here and there, but I do not believe they are still in production.

Yeah i'm gonna be bidding on one of those hard tops on ebay!LOL Looks like I may have some competition! There is also a softop hummer ambulance in 1/72 on ebay as well. You could also get that commando hummer softop in 1/35 and convert it to an abulance. The Edauard detail set just sold for around 10 bucks on ebay yesturday i beleive. Since i don't have the hummer yet i didn't bother bidding on it because i wanted to save the dollars for the hartop maxi ambulance. I won 4 hummers last week. In a lot of three and the fourth was that prototype deasert hummer. I won the Rover Ambulance with figures about a week a go. I've begun to love building hummers and support equipment. Glad to have another potential hummer builder around! We need to have more "soft skins" represented around here!lol

(To top it all off i won it off evil-bay for only $5 [not inc shipping]!)

gdarwin, Yep, got it sitting right beside me at my desk. With shipping it came to about $11. So I only beat ya by about 4 bucks!lol I may start on it in a minute. But Don't worry I'm going to have to shell out around that much or a little more to win the hummer ambulance on on "evil-bay". One of them is already up to 10 bucks and with a shipping of around $6 I'm looking at paying somewhere close to $20. [Just between you and me I don't think I'm bidding higher than a total of about $18. Just so you know if ya want it bad enough you can beat me out!lol]

No competition from me on ebay, too busy getting the real things ready for embark. I'll have to try to hunt one (or more) down on line when I get back. I've got great references for my data vans sitting in the lot, so I think I'll try to really test my scratch building skills on the interior.
