You can try Brookhurst Hobby in garden Grove. Very well stocked store I know that there are several stores in San Diego. One is off the 52 freeway but can't think of the name For trains there is one in West LA off of Supulveda Blvd and the 405. Its an awesome train store. Someone out there could give you better details

Thanks for the help.  It seems that alot of hobby stores are going away due to the internet.  I still like to browse and feel what I'm buying.

its not near Irvine, but Pegasus Hobbies in Monclair has a wide selection of models (cars, armour, planes).

Also try Military Hobbies in Orange:  830 East Lincoln Avenue  Orange, CA 92865, just a few miles from Brookhurst Hobby

One of the few places that just deals with models.  No RC, crafts, RR, wargames etc....just plastic model kits, although there might be a few resin kits stashed around.  They have a pretty decent selection of armor.
