Tamiya Simca 5 Staff Car finally completed.

Very nice work on an otherwise simple kit.  I really like the work on the grill.  I _think_ I would have tried to close the top, but then you miss out on all that nice detail inside. 

The Texas A&M decal on the right rear quarter is cool, too.

Nothing fancy really.  I don't fall into the new "fad" techniques of chipping, rusting, filters, oil dots, staining, streaking, mapping, or whatever else has been dreamed up these days.   My process is these steps:

Paint

Shading

Decals

Wash

Drybrush

Wear / damage

Mud

Dust

I am currently working on a typical postwar Simca painted red and black with an updated interior, but from my childhood overseas, I recall the interior being very simple, with a rusty black floor and crudely painted interior, and save for the heavy coat draped over the seats, no other creature comforts.

Very nice!  I really like the weathering including the interior.  The mud on the base looks like it's still wet.

I thought this thang rolled under your desk and you lost it.....Are you sure it could drive on a muddy road without sinking.

Nice work there Bronto   That grill is a huge improvement and should really look good once the paint is on.  Would have to agree with you about Tamiya slipping in the details department

Constructor- it is an original Tamiya kit. With this kit and the recent Elefant (which contains molded solid grab handles, grills, and open front half of the suspension) I think Tamiya have slipped far in quality.

I just thought you were working on a 1:1 scale for as long it has taken for you to build this thang. She will look good once you get the dress on her.......I want my floats Im ready to start my Catfish.

I got some barrels for your 1/200 Bismark if you need em.

I've been reading a lot of cons about this kit. I'm quite sure it is not an original Tamiya mold.

I finally had some time to get the rest of the grill done.  I hope to be painting this weekend (now maybe Thad will stop bugging me about progress on this).

Thanks all for the nice words.  I had some time to do a little bit more work.  The pedals are rebuilt, and the front grill is half-done.

I plan on making a hard top out of mine.  A bit of .005 plastic, maybe .010, and just cut in a window.  I found a picture of a grand total of ONE hard top, but that is all the proof I need.  My body was crushed when I opened the kit, so I have to wait for Tamiya to send another before I know for sure which plastic to use.  Bronto, nice job on the dash!

Are you redoing the pedals? or are they hidden from view in the final build.

BTW.....I talked to Brett yesterday and he is sending out a hit squad out to ya for trashing his review.
