It doesn't seem like much room but when you're in a townhouse with limited space 44 inches can be a lot of room. I think that the rail cars will take a little bit because of that reason, but it will give me some time to think about how I want to paint it. I know everything will be panzer gray but I cant make up my mind if I want to do the camo that would have been on Anzio Annie once I have everything put together.
The 1/35th K5 Leopold really doesn't take up that much room if you build the straight base. It's about 6 inches wide and around 44 inches long.
I built that badboy and it only took me a shade over seven years. Prepare yourself for mind numbing boredom assembling the railroad cars. Also, some of the smaller parts are EXTREMELY delicate.
On the good side, on my example, every part fit perfectly no matter how hard it was to place properly.
No putty was required anywhere AND, Stevens International(Trumpeter's US distributor) has excellent customer service for when some tiny part jumps out of the tweezers and disappears into the carpet.
One small bit of advice! DO NOT glue the wheel axle ends in place until you have the gun's base assembled and can sit the railcars onto the track. Then you can adjust the wheels up or down to ensure the complete gun sits level with all the wheels on the tracks...
Good Luck
BTW...There are some pix of mine in the armour section...
Newbee8742 Well I was able to get my wife to say yes by showing her the 1:35 scale "Dora" which made her think this would be a little better

Should be interesting
hell yeah I've been wanting to build a railroad gun like this for a few years but yet I don't have the room

Well hopefully tomorrow the UPS guy will bring me my new project. I wanted to do something a little different than the mainstream WWII Armor. I decided to go with this at 1:35 scale, had to convince the wife that I would have room for this. At almost 39 inches long it might be hard to find a shelf but I am sure I can make some room. The only thing that I am worried about is my airbrushing capabilities… I just want to make this look as good as possible since it’s such a large piece and that the fact the model is discontinued. I figure just take my time and don’t rush it and all should be well. Look forward to posting updates and all input that you guys may have.
