Sign - Ditto [#ditto] This forum is MUCH more friendly and "friend_family" oriented than many others. There are people of all ages races and skill levels here. We all share what we know and learn from eachother... The group builds are of HUGE value for learning little hints and tricks that otherwise would get lost in just a "finnished project" plus you get to see what us modelers actually put into these kits to get them to look the way they do. So many folks think its just an "add glue" thing.... oh no no no! I am tempted to make them read the 90 pages of post in the Panther GB just to get a feel for itTongue [:P]

Bottom line... Check it out.. Join one and see for yourself...

Welcome to "our" family!

Group builds are just a bunch of members that get together with a common theme for a build. You can see how varied they are by looking at the subjects at the top of the forum. Someone in the group sets up a topic and asks for the administrator (Lawrence Hansen) to make it a stickey (meaning it stays at the top of the topic list). Then everyone in the build posts their progress, problems, questions, pictures, etc. to that topic. Everyone is free to join. You just post into the topic that you'd like to join. They have a start date and a finish date. These are the "official" dates of the build, but no one's going to say anything if you start a little early or go late. It's all for fun and learning.

There is quite a discussion going on right now on how the group builds should be handled in the future. You might want to open that topic and scan through what's been said.

And NEVER be sorry about asking a question. That's why were all members to ask and learn. At least for me, what help I can offer back is only a partial repayment for all the advice, help, and friendship I've been given on this forum.

group builds are just a group of people decide to build a certain vehicle or item on a theme(figure, race car..). They can be really loose, a piece of armor any scale, country, kit with any thing you want on it. Or the same vehicle in a certain scale, the same exact kit sometimes. Basically it is like a support group for problem solving or a way or trying something new with a bunch of people. There is also a end date so you get some motivation to work at it and it sets a limit to the amount of work. People usually get on the list when it is prposed before anything is decided but some join up along the way especially is they like what they hear on the build or find a kit and want to jump in. If there is an in-progress you want to try just jump in. Look at some of the proposed ones. If not many people are interested they wait till enough are sometimes. You could even suggest one of your own.
