1/35 Meng Models Merkava MK IIID WIP
Posted by ozzman on Friday, October 19, 2012 8:59 PM

I decided to put away my Eduard Mirage IIICJ and start on a new model for a change of pace (and getting anything done). I will most likely post pictures tomorrow or on Sunday. Would anyone be interested in me reviewing the kit as I build it? I know the magazine already has a review up, but if anyone would like another opinion I would gladly deliver.

Cheers,

ozzman

Well, just open the box and build it. Then show your WIP

I'm thinking of getting one myself. A review while WIP will be a great help.

Mostly finished the lower hull today and yesterday. The detail so far is great and so is the fit, although the sprue attachments on some of the parts were rather thick. I also started making one run of tracks. These are somewhat finicky, but better than average overall.

I was not able to post for a while because I was busy, but I finished the lower hull and most of the upper hull. The molded details are very nice, but some of the parts are smaller than their attachment points. Also, the engine hood and exhaust were slightly warped and I had to use a little filler when putting the hood in. There are several options in some areas, but the instructions don't say which are used for which marking option. I decided to go for the all-metal road wheels; partially because they are shown in the marking options, but mostly because I'm lazy. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures.

Making good progress on this one. The Merkava family are such a cool-looking vehicle set, looking forward to seeing this one come to life. Yes
