Of course OD is gonna be the prime color for these- that was what they were painted when they left the factory. The most common camo color in NW Europe WWII would be black. While there was a guide for the Engineer Camouflage units to use, it was up to the guy with the air gun to use it or not.

Other colors used in NW Europe would be White on snow areas during winter (unlike the M16 seen above), or potentially Earth Brown or or Light Green. In Italy, Earth Red, Black, Earth Yellow, and Sand were all used as camo pattern colors on US AFVs during the campaign there. In Korea the most common color seen in a camo pattern on US Armor was Flat Earth. And of course there is good old fashioned mud applied to the vehicle by the crew that they would use to help their vehicle to better blend into the local terrain.

More marking options for M16 MGMC?
Posted by Zero Enna on Thursday, November 1, 2012 12:28 PM

I decided that plain OD is not enough for me Cool I want to try a camo scheme. I've seen some options, like OD w/ dark green and OD w/ sand. Any profiles about these camo schemes? So I'd now about theatre of operations. I think the M16 was also used by the IDF so overall Israeli sand will also be a good option. Any further info and tip will be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards.
