Went to this show this weekend. It is by far the best show i have ever been to. And is The largest in the world if you have never been. I will do a show photo report later when i download all the pics. The competition had a staggering 89 categories and thousands of entry,s. All of which were the highest of standard that i have seen, real eye candy and such variety. This thing made Euro look like a small local show.
The trade stands were out in force and if you couldnt get it at Telford then it probably dont exist. I went up with  a mate of mine Ken Holland and this was the best weekend i have had at a model show event. great company, loads of models ,an Indian meal in the evening followed by a few bevy,s and then another full day of models. WOW, roll on next year, that was awsome. I won some stunning awards.

Silver for my Leopard flak conversion.

Gold for Lest We Forget diorama ,

Best of show for civilian dioramas for Lest We Forget ,This was the massive shield.

Gold for Blissfull Ignorance diorama

Masterclass winner Best Diorama in show for Blissfull ignorance.

I did feel completely honoured for such awards

The Best of the Masterclass winners went to the fantastic time machine that was scratch built

The best of Show juniors went to a fantastic diorama with the set of figures playing cards, they are the same set i used in Timeout diorama in last months issue of Military modelling.

I had to put Ken through an hour of awards in the comfrance room for all the Gold medal winners and trophy winners, poor sod.

With the standard of stuff on show i was on cloud nine with my takings,A great weekend.

400 plus pics Copy and paste link, when it comes up view it on the slideshow if that works for best viewing.

Hi Tojo - I was at the show as well - it was really good fun as you say!  No criticism of the forum members here but as many are US based I guess they either can't go or perhaps haven't heard of the Telford show.  I didn't really take many pictures unlike you, but it looks like you did a good job on our behalf!  I remember seeing your Lest We Forget diorama, very nice.  I think my favourites were the diorama where the Russians are rushing over the rail lines and the Tiger with the open top so you could see all the internal mechanisms.  The paint job on the time machine figure was really amazing also.  I left the show with a Trumpeter 1/350 RN Roma but I think it will be a while before I get round to starting on it!

I was there this year and got my hands on the  Zoukei-Mura 1/32 Skyraider, only two left when I got mine. Pitty I wont be working on it for a while, amazing kit but daunting and I'm recovering from shoulder surgery so I cant even pick up a kit till Christmas !!

Hey Bodge,

I decided against going that day as it was a bit of a trek for me (more so for you) and I didn't have the option of staying over in the Holiday Inn as I needed to be back.

I was hoping the MAFVA guys from our Leicester group would be going but they were all assisting their buddies on their stands and Carl Startin was doing the same - I'd asked if he wanted to share a vehicle and the costs. Basically it was just too far to drive for a day out but I'd have loved to have gone.

MASSIVE congrats for all them wins buddy. Spectacular work.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see them at Hinckley early next year.

Cheers,

Ben Toast

Hi Bodge - I'm surprised you haven't heard of this one?

Hinckley is on the A5 just above Coventry - between Atherstone and Rugby on the A5. Carl Startin lives there - I'm sure you know Carl?

Every year they have a cracking Model show there at the Leisure Centre in the middle of the town. It takes up two sports-halls. The main hall has the club tables in the middle (our group always puts on a themed display) and around the edges are all the trade stands. Steve of Armour Models fame was there this year as was loads of great suppliers. The second hall is a real mix of everything including demonstrations etc. Upstairs is a smaller room that all the competion entries go into - results are read out at the end of the Sunday. it's a very cheap day out too. If you are a club member (i.e. MAFVA) you should be able to obtain free entry.

Iirc it's on around March time and DEFINATELY worth a visit. Iire I'm sure you live in Bournemouth so it's a LONG way to go but it's on for the whole weekend so book a Holiday Inn room and you've got a nice quiet weekend away. Take your wallet!

I'll give you a shout next year Bodge to give you the heads up and a link to the adverts.

Cheers buddy,

Ben Toast
