M-1 Abrams Comic Book
Posted by Awood23 on Friday, February 13, 2004 2:42 AM
I read a tread running the aircraft forum about books modelers read and it brought back an age old memory of a comic book I read some 13 maybe 14 years ago and I was wondering if anyone could help me out identifying it. I have long since forgotten the name of it but this comic was done more like a book than a magazine. It was about a M-1 company in germany during the begining of WWIII from what I remember the story line and art work were great (course I was only 13 at the time and would have been impressed with any military vehicle and book about one) I do remember there were some very graphic scenes showing some Russian soldier getting killed and while this is nothing in modern comics I was pretty suprised to see it in a comic book from that era. I was living in England at the time so I dont know if the comic came from an American or British Publishing company. If this rings any bells lemme know. Id love to know the name of the comic and even where to get a copy Thanks

Sounds like a British comic for sure, if it was American I probably would have heard of it. Especially if it was in a book, the British publish a lot of Annuals with hard covers...

Hey Awood23,

The comic in question I think, is "Team Yankee", it was a “graphic novel” based on a book by the same name and was written by Harold Coyle, I have it some ware but cant find it, if I do I will let you know the details. I think it was drawn by the same guy that did G.I. Joe but I’m not positive. Hope this helps.

We must be about the same age, my brother gave it to me for my birth day in 7th grade, must have been by 13th birthday, I ended up reading the book about a year later, and it is still one of my favorite books, i havent seen my copy of the graphic novel in some time though. Glad I could help.

I was in the local used book store today and ran across the graphic novel of "Team Yankee". When I saw it i remembered this thread and figure this was the book we were trying to guess the name of. So anyway I bought the beat up copy because it looked interesting. Cost me $6.50 but hey the cover price was $12.95 so I'm sure the comic shop couldn't beat the price being that the book is about 16yrs old [copyright 1987]! I'm reading it now (at work Big Smile [:D])hopfully I'll finish it tonight. looks good so far. Very inspirational in a modeling sense.

So I rush to the comp. to find this thread and low an behold you guys already found it! I didn't know swerna had found the book and responded to this post! Well Awood to make a long story short your question didn't fall on deaf ears and wasn't forgotten!LOL But thanks for lettting me know about this comic!
