What's on your Santa List?
Posted by tigerman on Saturday, December 1, 2012 12:46 AM

Christmas is coming and we all have wish lists I'm sure. Honestly, I don't need any kits at the moment, but.......that doesn't mean I won't be looking for a deal on the following:

Dragon StuG III G Late/zimmerit

Tamiya BT-7

AFV Club Valentine

So, what do you all want? Big Smile

That T28 heavy tank, either one is OK with me. I'll wait to get one until someone who had to have one now needs to sell theirs later.

That is probably how I'll acquire my list. Patience is the key and most of what I want is relatively new.

It depends Eric-what's on tap after the Steel Cats GB?  Wink

Seriously, I want to add something Allied to the armor list-maybe a Sherman or half track from the Battle of the Bulge....however, I did see that Sprue received a shipment of the Dragon Elefant Premium that caught my eye.  Also, I enjoy building auto and Polar Lights has re-released the Richard Petty Torino Tallegada-that's on my 'must buy' list, along with the re-release of 'Ohio' George Montgomery's Willys Gasser-both reasonable at my LHS or Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon.

Probably will wait and see if Sprue Broths. or Squadron has a big enough sale to make adding to the stash worthwhile.

Hi Fellas,

Apart from some WWII books and DVD's to help my modelling I asked for Dragon's Late version Panther G Stick out tongue

Well, it arrived the other day and obviously I had to, erm, make sure everything was intact before handing it over to possibly be my first build of 2013! It's a lovely looking kit!

Here she is! I buit Tamiya's old Jagdpanther a couple of years ago that is looking a bit dated so I'm pinching the Friuls off that and will use the JP as a test-bed and will build a new JP (I've still got the spare Friuls if I need to extend the runs at-all) BUT this one comes with Magic Tracks which I'm quite tempted to use.

This is going to be one SERIOUSLY enjoyable build! The kit itself looks brilliant!

It's going to be a VERY merry Christmas!

Well, I ordered a bunch of Masterbox figures HLJ had on sale for 50% off on Black Monday so I guess that's my Christmas List.

My want list is a little different, though like Rob I'm waiting on the new stuff till it's not new anymore and can be had cheaper:

1). Dragon 1/35th T28 super-heavy assault gun

2). Meng 1/35th Tortoise super-heavy assault gun

3). Bronco 1/35th M24 Chaffee - new Korean War version with the cool Tiger face markings

4). AFV Club 1/35th M36 Jackson tank destroyer - intended for conversion to one handed over to the South Koreans and painted in a cool camo pattern.

I saw the South Lebanon APC-55 by SKIF (kit #242) on the shelf at the LHS. It was priced at $60. (plus tax).

A little high I thought so I hope Santa will drop it by

M1 Garand International Harvester manufactured.

P38 Walther, Mauser or CYQ coded ones.

For plastic stuff.... I wish I had more time to build rather than just drool.  Happy Holidays!

After eyeing an MATV MRAP for between $60-$80 and being sad it was out of my budget, I discovered one by Panda for about half so Santa came early. :-)

Those Master Box figures poses look so cool. Much more life in them then the old Tamiya and Dragon kits.

Eric - I thought you already had the Valentine in your stash because you asked in one of Doogs threads to post a detailed build up once he got around to his.   If I'd known otherwise ... about a month ago I picked one up for $25.99 at LuckyModel, but they are currently sold out.

From DragonUSA care of cyber-Monday sale I have this on the way:

Although I'm not a huge follower of modern warfare, I have been eyeing this new kit, as occasionally I am interested in the Gulf War conflict.

Really looking forward to Eduard's release of the Spitfire IX sometime in 2013.

regards,

Jack

I have the post war P-1 version.  J&G has WWII issued ones at under $600 each, but mixed parts guns from mother Russia.

Woo, I do want a workbench for the Christmas~

Thanks Jack. I have wanted one, but really want an early version with the sand shields, say a MK II. Bummer about that. I think Bronco is realeasing one, but I wasn't blown away by my little Hotchkiss.

Love your III H. Maybe we need to have an Afrika Korps GB some day. I've tinkered with the idea a couple of times.

Yes, the Mk II version is the one I have.

If you were to host an Afrikakorps GB, or even a desert one that includes also the British and Italians, I would join right quick.

Argh. I'd have been all over that! Wish I knew of that sale.

I might be up for a North Africa GB. That would open it up to Italian armor as well. Sadly, that didn't go over as well as I thought and I opted for the Steel Cats build instead.

Eric, you know I am always up for North Africa GB!  Twice we brought it up but failed... maybe third is the charm?

Yes Andy. I always thought it was a popular theme to model. Shrug. I guess I could try to advertise it better next time around. My problem would be which kit to build. I probably have t least 4 that would qualify.
