This is sad news indeed. I have several of his books. We seem to be losing a generation of historians and researchers who were interested in getting to the root of things via facts, and following those facts wherever they lead, without any regard to political or fashionable interests.

As my favorite history professor used to say: "We are interested in facts. If you want 'truth' the religion department is down the hall."

I will send a note today thanking him for his efforts.

It is sad to hear. It is a loss to the hobby and a loss to humanity as he was truly a great person.

Sad news about Tom Jentz (Panzer Tracts)

I'm sorry to share this report by my friend Saul Garcia, about Tom Jentz of Panzer Tracts and a great resource to the armor modelling hobby:
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce Thomas L. Jentz is losing his battle with an illness. The prognosis is terminal and the expectancy is in weeks. I will be writing to him to thank him for all the decades of research, insistence of proper terminology, and his dedication in uncovering the truth about the German armored forces of WWII. He and I spoke numerous times over the telephone and at shows and I always came away learning and in awe at his ability to retain information.

If you also wish to send your thanks and appreciation for his legacy, Panzer Tracts and the books that he wrote with Walter Spielberger and Hilary Louis Doyle, send an email to panzertracts@aol.com and place your thanks in the subject line. Please consider that the illness is terminal so any messages should be towards letting him know that the Life he led benefited us.

The Panzer Tracts series will continue but that announcement will come later.

Regards,
Saúl García "
