I've used cheese cloth a few times.it's usually 2 or 3 ply so you need to pull the layers apart.

For 1/72, you're gonna have to do some looking for the correct sizing of the weaved cells.  I use tulle for 1/35 wire netting.

You might try other fabrics or even gauze.  In 1/72, scale effect is hugely magnified and if you choose the wrong stuff, it'll be very apparent.  Good luck.

Tulle (pronunciation: TOOL, comes from Tulle, France) is a light-weight, very fine netting. Tulle is most commonly used for veils, gowns (particularly wedding gowns), and ballet tutus. Tulle comes
in a wide array of colors and it can also easily be dyed to suit the needs of the consumer. Look in any fabric store or more than a few hobby purveyors.

Tulle fabric is classified into various sorts fabric tailgate enclosures (like a basketball hoop). It can be made of various materials, most commonly organza, nylon, rayon, cotton, and silk are among others.

Are there any good camo nets out there for 1/72 scale armour? Or what is a good way of making some?
