T-34/76 Tread color

Hmm, I would paint and weather them like any other steel tracks. Everyone has their own technique and colors but I usually start off by priming with a flat black then giving them a not so heavy coat of dark brown. From there I usually follow it up with a heavy oil wash using raw umber and then some dry-brushing. I haven't done anything Soviet yet but I would imagine from the looks of them, the T34 tracks were regular steel like the German tanks.

Thanks for the input; I just finished an M4A3 and loved the look of the T 48 tread but knew there was obviously going to be quite a difference for the Russian junk. I'll probably do as you suggested and top it off with some mig pigments.

Mike: I prefer to base-coat my metal (non-rubber block) tracks in MM "Schokoladen-braun," then drybrush with Humrol (Metalcote) steel and follow with a PolyScale "Dirt" or "Mud" wash.

Great ideas everyone. I suspect I'll follow the tips as long as I feel comfortable with them. I look at as a learning curve and am not too concerned about messing it up. From past experience I usually find stuff that works really well and others not so much All the input has been appreciated. Cheers!
