DAK Pz.Kpfw IV ausf F1 track options
Posted by dogzilla17 on Monday, March 25, 2013 12:24 PM

I just picked up the old DML kit thinking it would be 100% OOB - unfortunately the Magic Tracks I was expecting were not included --and the supplied links seem sub standard --  does anyone know if DML sells MT  separately ?

Alternatively I'm looking @ modelkasten or breaking into the new and exciting world of fruilmodel

Thanks

As far as i know, you can't buy Magic Tracks. I have no experiance with Modelkasten but i would highly recomend Fruils, i love em. If you decid on that route, you want set ATL-04.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

For MK's the set you'd want is SK-18. It's a set I've used many, many times. Just bear in mind if you go with them that the guide horns are separate pieces so there's more assembly work required as a result. Wink

I think these are the correct tracks.  If someone can confirm... they're yours if you want them.  They are "handed" so there is light and dark gray links.

Sorry dog... I just counted the links and there isn't enough to make the track.  No clue why since I just didn't use them since I bought Fruils for that build so they should all be there.

No worries --just curious how many short as I have some left over from a recently completed Jagdpanzer IV -- maybe combine the 2 ? --  Great website BTW

I have a set of "Magic Tracks" from Dragon's Panzer IV FI (F) which I believe represent the 400cm links with the "horned" guides (they are not solid. Still in the bags so there should be enough for a 1/35 scale kit of any sort, post up and or PM if you would like them and I'll send them off. nzer

They have marketed Magic Tracks separately on occasion. For instance, when they released the 1/35 scale Type 2 Ka-Mi amphibious tank, the original Dragon non-pontoon equipped kit came with one piece DS tracks. I bought the Cyber Hobby version with pontoons hoping it would come with Magic Tracks, but it came with the same DS tracks as well.

Then I saw that DragonUSA sold the Magic Tracks separately after I ordered the CH kit, but were sold out before I was able to use up my Dragon wallet dollars. The Magic Tracks for that kit were about half the price of the non-pontoon Smart kit itself ($50 kit, MT were $23).

Hi -- just wanted to see if there may be another solution out there -

I'm planning on using the Alpine 35017 DAK NCO as the commander of the old Dragon 9044 Pzkpfw IV F1   --

The issue : legs too far apart to fit inside the cupola

Solutions :

1 Heat /soften legs and narrow stance

2 arrange 'armless' figure in turret , then add arms

I think Im predisposed to solution 2 as I really hate to alter an Alpine figure , also don't know how their plastic will take the heat

Im sure this would be a slam dunk for many out there -- any tips are appreciated -

Dog,

If you haven't found a source for the tracks yet, let me know.  I've got a set.
