I have the tamiya kits and they are very good! Definetely the way to go!

The Tamiya engine kit supposedly only fits their new tool Kubelwagen, not the old one. Don't know if that's true, but you'd have a major amount of cutting to do just on the engine hatch to get the engine into the old kit.

the Hasigawa Kubelwagen came with an engine and is a great kit if you can find one, it also comes with side windows and a roof, the Tamiya engine set and Kubelwagen are great too and Tamiyas Shwimmwagen comes with an engine

yeah, I saw that and thats probably the way I will go, the more I think of it. I was thinking about just getting a cheap one but now I'm thinking I'll want more detail.

Tamiya makes both the Kubel .... and an engine kit.
