Corrected 4x4 jeep?
Posted by constructor on Friday, April 26, 2013 2:03 AM

I am about to order Dragon's SAS 1/4 ton 4x4 Patrol Commander's car. But reading the review about  the first Dragon Kit (SAS), I was wondering if the issues(many) regarding the first kit has been addressed in this second kit or is it merely a re-boxing of the first?

I doubt it.  I will stick with Tamiya's and Bronco's excellent jeep kits.

I was doing the Tamiya Jeep along side the Dragon and the Tamiya is hands down better.  I did not enjoy the Dragon build.

Here is a comparison (side-by-side) build of Tamiya, DML, and Bronco jeeps.  It clearly shows which is the best.  Bronco if you ask me, but it is a Ford GPW, and Tamiya's is a Willy's MB, slight differences, but they are there.

Hard to believe the Tamiya Jeep is as old as it is. Still seems like it is "new" but it's been around since the late 1990s. I'll probably try one of the newer Bronco Jeeps some day, but I have multiple copies of the Tamiya Jeeps (courtesy of Hobby Lobby's 40% off coupons) that will keep me busy.

Dragon's Jeep just seems so expensive compared to the venerable Tamiya kit.

Just finished assembling  a Dragon Jeep . Not one of my most enjoyable builds. It was all so my first  try at PE parts and resin parts.

Dragon may have some interesting releases ,but I'll stick with Tamiya and buy after market kits.

Bronco I've yet to see one up close so holding of on my opinion.

I did some asking and the original SAS version of the Jeep issued by Cyber Hobby was incorrect, but subsequent SAS releases (6724 & 6745) by Dragon (the non-Cyber Hobby ones) and the American versions were corrected by Dragon.
