Which fruil or mk tracks to use for marder 3?

I just got this kit also, Did you get a barrel yet? Anyone have any opinions, I was thinking of going with the old faithful JR?

The Marder III was a self-propelled gun using a Pz Kpfw 38 (t) chassis. I purchased the Fruil Panzer 38 (t) metal tracks, # ATL-13, for my Tamiya Marder III Ausf M kit. Haven't built it yet but it is on the upcoming to-do list!

I'm going with Modelkasten tracks myself. I'm also getting the Aber sets and the JR barrel (unless Eduard comes out with one before I get around to building it).

Just as an alternative opinion, I have built the Marder III, and there really isn't a need to spend the extra bucks on an AM barrel and track set. What comes straight out of the box is really nice. Save your money and apply it to AM sets for kits that need it.....

If you really want to use a track set I personally prefer MK. But the tracks that come with the kit are pretty darn good. And the money you save can put toward the next kit.

Yea there doesn't seem to be much sag in the tracks of the Marder , I may go with those as well , I did buy the aber detail for it and already got the cannon for it as well, J rubio , seems like a nice kit OOB though , very nice detail on it

Spector, Go with the 38t tracks... if you get the AM set. I am slowly getting a collection of 38t suspended vehicles myself fortunanly most have indi tracks in them already... (DML, Alan) though the latter has enourmous amounts of flash on the tracks, my sample anyway. The kit tracks, if they are loose enough could be made to work with the new fangled glueable tracks... Good luck with whichever route you choose...

IMO - The Tamiya tracks in the Marder III kit are poorly detailed and any OOB Marder III I've seen looks unconvincing, largely due to the tracks - even if the modeller makes the effort to tie them down. I'm also known as being pretty anal about these things though. You have to put in enough extra time working the indy tracks (albeit rewarding work) it's almost like working another kit any way - the results are outstanding and you end up getting your money's worth (IMO).

If you want another alternative to one piece tracks, the resin tracks from Accurate Armor are much nicer than the Tamiya vinyl tracks, and there are longer sections (about 8 I think). But, you have to heat and form them around wheels.

Of course, AM always looks a little better, and sometimes a lot better, but you could probably fiddle with the kit treads to make them sit like that.
