AFV Club Sd.Kfz. 263 8 Rad radio Question
Posted by plasticjunkie on Friday, May 3, 2013 3:39 PM

Just got in the new 1/35 AFV Club Sd.Kfz. 263 8 Rad and its a beaut. Unfortunately it has a partial engine. It does come with a full interior but no Fu.11 SE100 radio set. I found good pictures of the radio set and I can scratch those out. I have a couple of books on these vehicles but none have  interior pictures. Where would the radio be mounted and how? I imagine some sort of wood or metal shelving along with a small counter for the operator to write etc? If anyone has pictures on this can you please post them so i can get an idea?

don't have any references of my own unfortunately and a google search yielded nothing. A resource that might help is one of those books that have extremely detailed cross sections of vehicles.

I imagine they were placed near the commander's cupola and know that radios were to the left of the commanders cupola in the stug and tiger.

hope this helps.

Modeler....Thanks for your post. believe me I have spent hours googling on the computer. I did find excellent pictures of the radio gear but nothing on the set up inside. I did find some info that says that Panzer Tracts 13-2 has interior photos of the radio setup on the 263. It be great if one of you guys has this book and can post or email me the picture. I want to leave all doors and hatches open to see as much as possible of the interior.

Yes, Panzer Tracts 13-2 has the pictures you need.  It's not an expensive book (less than the price of a kit), why not buy it and support the authors that bring us this needed information?

I just bought two books thinking they had interior pictures. It's turning out to be an expensive build.

Well it so happens that I found a used copy of Panzer tracts 13-2  in a thrift store for $3.50! However informative this book is it does not have any interior pictures or descriptions so I'm back to square one.
