Marder II help
Posted by Blitzwing on Thursday, June 27, 2013 5:40 AM

Hi guys.

I'm building the old Tamiya Marder II, not great but still good nonetheless. I'm working on the rear ammunition storage boxes and this is what I'm seeing.

Are those empty spaces supposed to be there? Or have I gotten something wrong because there is nothing to cover up those empty areas.

I have just checked the Panzer Tracts volume which covers this, and your kit looks about right. Its hard to tell as the photo I have is taken from a higher angle and the gun breech is in the way. But the gap on the left is defiantly correct. I am guessing that box would slide out to open it. And from what I can tell, the right side looks ok as well. The kit does seem to be missing some minor detail such as hinges on those box's along the top on the one on the right, but other than that, it looks ok.

Would you like me to scan the image and send it.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Interesting that u point this out. I have the Dragon Marder II unbuilt but as I look at the instructions, the diagram shows similar gaps in the area in question. I built the Tamiya Marder years ago but can't remember this particular detail.
