Tamiya M1A2 Abrams lightning wheels

Hi guys and gals

Like some of you know, I am a noob to the modeling world. In fact I recently started building my first model a M1A2 and would like to replicate the mud relief holes. I've searched the forum, I found some reference pics but no SBS detailing the process or even where to start.

What size drill bit should I use ? Any ideas, SBS or guidance would be appreciated.

They are rather rough cut into the metal with a welding torch. Just hack one out with a small circular file.
